miracles word “miracle,” ‐ from Latin, for a wonderful thing or a surprise Hebrew Bible, miracle designated by nes or oth, meaning “a sign” miracle, commonly thought of as violation of nature's laws Hume's challenge ‐ widely discussed challenges to belief in miracles, epistemological objection by Hume attempts made ‐ blunting a sharp blow dealt by Hume to credibility of miracle stories Price's argument ‐ fairly reliable individual's testimony, as evidence for the most improbable event acknowledging miracles ‐ no matter how great a miracle seems, others who are bent upon denying it can always explain it away
