Religiosity and Moral Identity: The Mediating Role of Self-Control.Scott John Vitell, Mark N. Bing, H. Kristl Davison, Anthony P. Ammeter, Bart L. Garner & Milorad M. Novicevic - 2009 - Journal of Business Ethics 88 (4):601-613.
The ethics literature has identified moral motivation as a factor in ethical decision-making. Furthermore, moral identity has been identified as a source of moral motivation. In the current study, we examine religiosity as an antecedent to moral identity and examine the mediating role of self-control in this relationship. We find that intrinsic and extrinsic dimensions of religiosity have different direct and indirect effects on the internalization and symbolization dimensions of moral identity. Specifically, intrinsic religiosity plays a role in counterbalancing the (...)

Some Historical Analysis of the Translating, Editing, and Publishing Process of the Collection of Albert Einstein in China.Liu Bing - 2006 - Synthesis Philosophica 21 (2):285-298.
As in other countries, Einstein has been one of the most famous scientists in China. In 1970’s, the three volumes Collection of Einstein in Chinese have been selected, translated and published, which was the main sources for Chinese people knowing Einstein for long time, and even had important ideological influence. However, as the background of it, in China, there were very influential political movements related to criticism of science after 1949, which also influenced the decision, selection, progress and the way (...)

    A Nexus of Care.Barry R. Sang - 2007 - Process Studies 36 (2):229-244.
The purpose of the paper is to explore the similarity between care ethics and process theology’s views of the world and God’s nature, especially as it relates to the process concepts of the consequent and superject natures of God. The ethic of care concept of the one who cares-for corresponds in interesting ways to process theology’s notion of the consequent and superject natures of God. The author hopes to encourage conversation between these two disciplines which appear to have such striking (...)

Three Generations of Computerized Systems for Public Administration and Some Implications for Legal Decision-Making.Jon Bing - 1990 - Ratio Juris 3 (2):219-236.
. The paper is concerned with the introduction of computerized systems into public administration. As a basis for the assessment of current systems, a brief history of such systems is offered. Not only are “legal information systems” discussed, but the access to factual information is also dealt with. Three generations of systems in public administration are indicated: The first generation emphasized use of data bases and computers for calculation, as well as “computer‐oriented legislation.” The second generation lifted the forms, which (...)

Although the term “contrastive stress” has been incorrectly used in the past to describe default accent. contrastive intonation, or a combination of the two. English does have contrastive stress. However, contrastive stress is not used primarily to show a contrast. It is possible to have contrastive meaning without contrastive stress and it is also possible to have contrastive stress without contrastive meaning. The fact that English has contrastive stress constitutes further evidence for the existence of an unmarked or normal stress (...)

Viewing workplace deviance within a victim precipitation framework, we explore how abusive supervisors target subordinates low in core self-evaluations to explain when such employees respond by engaging in workplace deviance. We theorize that employees who are lower in CSE receive more abusive supervision, which generates subsequent harmful reactions toward supervisors, peers, and the organization. This occurs primarily when employees lack sufficient cognitive resources in dealing with supervisor abuse. We test, replicate, and extend our theoretical model in three empirical studies. Results (...)

    Jonathan Edwards's Ontology: A Critique of Sang Hyun Lee's Dispositional Account of Edwardsian Metaphysics.Oliver D. Crisp - 2010 - Religious Studies 46 (1):1.
Sang Hyun Lee's account of Jonathan Edward's ontology has become the benchmark of many recent discussions of Edwards's thought. In this paper, I argue that this Lee interpretation is flawed in several crucial respects. In place of Lee's understanding of Edwards I offer an account of Edwards's work according to which Edwards is an idealist-occasionalist, but not an advocate of a purely dispositional ontology of creation.

In this paper, I discuss the problem of how empty persons can make distinctions between right and wrong within the two-truths doctrine of the Buddhist tradition. To do so, I rely on the teachings of the fifteenth- century founder of Tibetan Buddhism, Tsong kha pa Lo sang drak pa. I summarize Tsong kha pa’s exposition of the Buddhist tradition on this question, and then show how he held that profound emptiness, the ultimate truth found under scrupulous analysis of how (...)
