Abstract

Mario Bunge has made a monumental contribution to many fields of science and philosophy over decades. He is an ongoing inspiration to critical thinkers in those disciplines. His work in social studies and his political commentary are equally significant. This paper is written as a personal recognition of his high standing in the area of my own work and career as a professor and researcher in ethnographic studies. That work has been conducted at the National University of La Plata, the only academic institution in Argentina which provides for the many specializations in the field of anthropology, and which shares Bunge’s philosophy in its development of a systemic and evolutionary approach to studying human beings as a natural species.
