  1. A nonlinear, GA-optimized, fuzzy logic system for the evaluation of multisource biofunctional intelligence.Abdollah Homaifar, Vijayarangan Copalan & Lynn Dismuke - 2000 - Journal of Mind and Behavior 21 (1-2):137-147.
Using the genetic algorithm and fuzzy logic, this study presents a nonlinear approach to the evaluation of biofunctional intelligence. According to the biofunctional model, intelligence may be viewed as a multisource phenomenon resulting in part from the interaction of learning processes and sources of self-regulation. Learning processes are regulated by three sources of control , producing three subprocesses for each learning process. This paper examines the role of five such subprocesses as contributors to intelligence. Fuzzy logic captures the fuzzy nature (...)

Semiotic ladder: the schema of producing meanings in narrative.Mohammad Ali Mahmoodi & Fatemeh Savab - 2023 - Semiotica 2023 (253):51-70.
A model called the “semiotic ladder,” which consists of “consecutive semiotic squares,” is proposed in this paper, through which the meanings of the deep structure of a narrative can be depicted as fluid and dynamic. It shows the stages of producing meanings in the narrative, from beginning to end. To see this, several narratives in the epic and mythological genres are analyzed in order to discover their abstract and deep structural meanings, and to prove the dynamic nature of meaning in (...)

In the conditions in which dominant global powers is still trying to expand their cultural hegemony, neo-colonialism, over the countries which are trying to hold their independence, through the creation of native intellectuals who are mentally Gharbzadeh, Westoxificated. This study finds it crucial to take the issue a step further ahead to discuss how the ideas of Ale-e Ahamad’s famous theory of Gharbzadegi is still applicable in our time and reveals its representations in Said’s well-known concept of Orientalism. 10. Transcendent Philosophy, Na’eeni School, and Muhammad Taghi Ja’fari on Free will and Necessity.Abdollah Nasri - 2015 - پژوهشنامه فلسفه دین 12 (2):159-184.
The relation between free will and necessity is one of the most important issues regarding the problem of “free will”. This is because of the rule which indicates that “being not necessary, an event would not be came off”. There has been an ongoing debate among theologians, philosophers and Jurists on whether this rule includes free actions. Sadrain Philosophers believe that this rule is inclusive of human free actions, while followers of the Na’eeni school endorse the opposite. In this article, (...)

Not Without My Daughter: On Parental Abduction, Orientalism and Maternal Melodrama.Betty de Hart - 2001 - European Journal of Women's Studies 8 (1):51-65.
In 1987 the book Not Without My Daughter by Betty Mahmoody became a worldwide best-seller. In the line of Mahmoody’s book, similar ‘true stories’ of western white women with oriental husbands were published. These books concentrate on topics like bad marriages, abuse and international parental abduction. In this article the books are analysed as popular culture products of orientalist discourse on mixed marriages. They are maternal melodramas in which women who are victims of their intermarriage become heroines by sacrificing themselves (...)

Life Stories and Cross-Cultural Marriages: A Discussion of Betty de Hart, `Not Without My Daughter: On Parental Abduction, Orientalism and Maternal Melodrama'.Ellettha J. E. Schoustra-van Beukering - 2002 - European Journal of Women's Studies 9 (1):69-78.
In the footsteps of Betty Mahmoody's book Not Without My Daughter, a raft of other western women wrote books about their mixed marriages with men from other continents. The men are mainly orientals. All these women have seen their marriages fail. Although most of them admit they made a wrong choice, they do not necessarily portray their former husbands as unreliable characters and themselves as heroines. The life stories cannot be read from such a narrow perspective. These authors should take (...)
