In recent years, several significant translations have been published by Vladimir Vasilyevich Starovoitov, which undoubtedly expand the ideas of Russian specialists about classical psychoanalysis, its criticism and the subsequent development of Freudian ideas. The article analyzes the works of John D. Sutherland, Ronald W.F. Fairbairn, Sandor Ferenczi and Benjamin Kilborne. An idea is given about the dynamically complex and contradictory process of the formation of psychoanalytic schools and individual teachings. The problems of the theory of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic technique are (...) considered, the issues of applied and clinical psychoanalysis, the development of personality and the emotional world of a person are discussed. The article analyses the approaches of outstanding Russian philosophers — V.A. Podoroga and S.A. Smirnov — to the philosophical works of Merab Konstantinovich Mamardashvili. Their two monographic studies, published in 2020, offer a perfectly unique view through the original authorial lenses of the philosophical ideas of M.K. Mamardashvili. Making special mention of the topological configuration of Mamardashvili’s thinking, his specific metaphoricalness, these authors, each in his own way, immerse the readers into the semantic space of his philosophy. V.A. Podoroga reveals (...) the unique philosophical style of Mamardashvili built on free speech-thought in contrast to a written text, with its permanent desire to repeat what was said in order to receive a new impetus for the motion of thought, and with its invariable return to the starting point. S.A. Smirnov retraces Mamardashvili’s authorial act of utterance as an autobiographic one, restoring the navigation of the philosopher’s personality through his creation that appears as an organ-tool of understanding. The monographs are a significant contribution to comprehension of the Russian philosophical tradition of the 20th century. (shrink)

The article is devoted to a critical analysis of modern approaches to the memorialization of culture prevailing in Western European philosophical thought, using the example of R. Debray's mediology. It is shown that the very appeal to the problems of death and the preservation of the memory of the past is extremely significant today against the background of the "acceleration of history", the loss of the unity of historical time and the plurality of views on the past. However, the translation (...) of the experience of the past through traces of memory reduces the idea of culture only to its "bodily" expression. Culture is considered as the sum of acquisitions accumulated and transferred by a individual as a biological species. The conclusion is made about the convergence in modern concepts of the notion of memory with the notion of information. The view of the accumulation and distribution of artifacts in the outside world as a universal way of compensating for the collective "unconsciousness" of mankind is criticized. (shrink)

Слово «апофатика» имеет давнюю традицию. Оно выражает когнитивный принцип, позволяющий подойти к изучению процессов природы через отрицание. Апофатики считают, что любое теоретическое открытие не следует рассматривать как исчерпывающее. Его стоит скорее трактовать как знак потаённого, как указание на возможные глубины новых проблем. Принцип отрицания в данном случае служит предостережением от простого первоначального толкования темы. Именно так понимал это слово Дионисий Ареопагит. Он утверждал, что есть два пути Богопознания: первый путь – через положительные определения Бога («Всемогущий», «Вездесущий», «Благой»), второй путь – (...) через отрицание всех предикатов как неточных или ложных. Чтобы получить истинный образ Бога, нужно, полагают апофатики, отбросить все ответы, которые претендуют на познание Бога. В результате мыслители получают ответ на вопрос «Что Бог не есть?». На этом пути проступает истинный образ Бога. Зародившись в богословии, апофатика проникла в философию и науку. Она отразилась на толковании Вселенной, представлении об истинном образе человека. Современные исследователи называют апофатику основным методом науки XXI века. Апофатический метод как реакция на очевидную несостоятельность претензий на абсолютное знание становится всё более востребованным в постмодернизме. (shrink)

Нет сомнения в том, что каждому индивиду в разных жизненных ситуациях невольно приходится задумываться над тем, почему человек творит зло. Обладая разумом, вменяемостью, альтруизмом, потомок Адама тем не менее демонстрирует радикальное зло, поразительную разрушительность, мстительность и ненависть. Созидательная активность человека зачастую перекрывается масштабной деструктивностью: войнами, агрессией, неуёмной злобностью. Фиксируя акты вандализма, террора, садизма, аморализма, философы нередко восклицали: «И это человек?!». Наконец, в наши дни часто пишут о том, что homo sapiens захвачен мощной тягой к самоуничтожению. Он, оказывается, суицидент по природе (...) и законченный самоубийца, о чём авторитетно рассуждают современные танатософы. Обращаясь к проблеме злонравия человека, философы демонстрируют широкий спектр мировоззренческих позиций — нравственных, онтологических, антропологических, социальных. При этом одни исследователи в противовес злонравию, свойственному человеку, указывают на положительные черты этого природного создания — разумность, созидательность, нравственность и исходную тягу к добру. Так в сочинениях разных философов рождаются противоречивые, несовместимые взгляды на человеческую натуру. (shrink)

The publication of the anthology «Russian Philosophy in the XXI Century» edited by Mikhail Sergeev, Alexander Chumakov and Mary Tice is the result of a long-term international project. This publication provides a broad overview of post-Soviet philosophical thought for the English-speaking readers. Without pursuing the goal of covering all modern Russian philosophy in one book, the editors, however, managed to expand a whole complex of philosophical problems, which are reflected now by famous Russian philosophers, who create in Russia and abroad (...) and who consider themselves to be part of the Russian school of philosophy. The article notes that Russian philosophy, on the one hand, is deeply rooted in the cultural tradition, and on the other, absorbs the newfangled Western trends, continues to preserve its distinctive features, represented by original philosophical schools and outstanding names. Since the work on the anthology took several years and some of its authors (Pavel Gurevich, Vadim Mezhuev, Valery Podoroga, Sergey Horujy) are no longer alive, the book allows us to evaluate once again their significant contribution to the development of Russian philosophy and to honor their memory. Publishers paid great attention to the accuracy of the translation of Russian-language articles into English, trying to keep the imagery and the richness of the Russian language. The anthology is intended not only for specialists in philosophy, but also for the general reader, who want to understand better by what lives Russian philosophical thought today and where it draws inspiration.
