Out of sight, out of mind: The attentional blink can eliminate synaesthetic colours.Anina N. Rich & Jason B. Mattingley - 2010 - Cognition 114 (3):320-328.
Mechanisms of selective attention exert a powerful influence on visual perception. We examined whether attentional selection is necessary for generation of the vivid colours experienced by individuals with grapheme-colour synaesthesia. Twelve synaesthetes and matched controls viewed rapid serial displays of nonsense characters within which were embedded an oriented grating (T1) and a letter-prime (T2), forming a modified attentional blink (AB) task. At the end of the stream a coloured probe appeared that was either congruent or incongruent with the synaesthetic colour (...)

    The Tarski T-Schema is a tautology (literally).Edward N. Zalta - 2013 - Analysis (1):ant099.
The Tarski T-Schema has a propositional version. If we use ϕ as a metavariable for formulas and use terms of the form that-ϕ to denote propositions, then the propositional version of the T-Schema is: that-ϕ is true if and only if ϕ. For example, that Cameron is Prime Minister is true if and only if Cameron is Prime Minister. If that-ϕ is represented formally as [λ ϕ], then the T-Schema can be represented as the 0-place case of λ-Conversion. If (...)

On The Collective Catalogues Of Sivas Court Records.Abubekir Sıddık Yücel - 2018 - Cumhuriyet İlahiyat Dergisi 22 (2):1059-1079.
Court (Shar’iyya) recordings are at the forefront of primary written sources, which contain important documents related to Turkish history, sociology and culture. The court records shed light on city history of the period concerned with rich information and documents. These records are important books in which the documents related to the judicial, administrative, economic, architectural and social structure of a city as well as diplomatic correspondence between the center and the province were recorded. The purpose of this study is to (...)

Rock ‘n’ labels: Tracking the Australian recording industry in ‘The Vinyl Age’: Part One, 1945–1970.Clinton J. Walker, Trevor Hogan & Peter Beilharz - 2012 - Thesis Eleven 109 (1):71-88.
Over the past 50 years, rock music has been the prime mover of an emergent national recording industry in Australia. In this study, which has two parts, we survey record labels, recording techniques and forms, and the music that was bought and sold. Part One narrates the emergence of modern record production, the rise of rock music, and the development of a local recording industry in Australia between 1945 and 1970. Part Two (to be published in Thesis Eleven 110) recounts (...)

    Maximal Subalgebras of $\text{MV}_{\text{n}}$ -Algebras. A Proof of a Conjecture of A. Monteiro.Roberto Cignoli & Luiz Monteiro - 2006 - Studia Logica 84 (3):393-405.
For each integer $n\geq 2,{\Bbb MV}_{n}$ denotes the variety of MV-algebras generated by the MV-chain with n elements. Algebras in ${\Bbb MV}_{n}$ are represented as continuous functions from a Boolean space into a n-element chain equipped with the discrete topology. Using these representations, maximal subalgebras of algebras in ${\Bbb MV}_{n}$ are characterized, and it is shown that proper subalgebras are intersection of maximal subalgebras. When $A\in {\Bbb MV}_{3}$, the mentioned characterization of maximal subalgebras of A can be given in terms (...)

Forme et sens du message juridique en traduction.Jean-Claude Gémar - 2008 - International Journal for the Semiotics of Law - Revue Internationale de Sémiotique Juridique 21 (4):323-335.

    Style, Substance, and Philosophical Methodology: A Cross-Cultural Case Study.Julianne Chung - 2018 - Dialogue 57 (2):217-250.
One challenge involved in integrating so-called ‘non-Western’ philosophies into ‘Western’ philosophical discourse concerns the fact that non-Western philosophical texts frequently differ significantly in style and approach from Western ones, especially those in contemporary analytic philosophy. But how might one bring texts that are written, for example, in a literary, non-expository style, and which do not clearly advance philosophical positions or arguments, into constructive dialogue with those that do? Also, why might one seek to do this in the first place? This (...)
