Die Arbeit untersucht, wieweit soziologische Fragestellungen in die gegenwärtige französische Nationalökonomie eingegangen sind. B. unterscheidet drei Formen nationalökonomischer Systembildung : die liberale, die nationale und die soziale Ökonomik. Die klassische liberale Ökonomie hat sich in der jüngsten Gegenwart zur mathematischen Ökonomie entwik- kelt. Beide sind aber vom soziologischen Gesichtspunkt aus unzulänglich, da sie von der Fiktion des homo oeconomicus ausgehen und die gegebene gesellschaftliche Struktur, ja die gesamte geschichtliche Bewegung bei ihrem Kalkül vernachlässigen. Im Gegensatz zu dieser reinen Ökonomie setzt (...) sich immer stärker ein ökonomisches Denken durch, das den sozialen Fakten wirklich Rechnung trägt. In einer grossen Auseinandersetzung mit den Anschauungen von Simiand und Halbwachs weist B. nach, wie beide Wissenschaften, die Nationalökonomie ebenso wie die Soziologie? zu gewinnen haben, wenn die ökonomische Wissenschaft bei ihren Untersuchungen die entscheidenden gesellschaftlichen Daten, die sozialen Gruppen, ihre Bedürfnisse, ihre Dynamik einzusetzen weiss.This article examines the extent to which sociological problems have entered into present French political economy. According to B., three different types of systems of political economy have been developed — liberal, national and social economics. Very recently, classical liberal economics have evolved into mathematical economics. Both, however, are insufficient from a sociological viewpoint, in that they start from the fiction of the,,homo oeconomicus“ and neglect the given social structure and even the entire historical movement. In contrast to this type of pure economics, economic thinking that actually takes into account the social factors is constantly gaining ground. In a detailed analysis of the opinions of Simiand and Halbwachs, B. proves that both sciences — political economy as well as sociology — would only gain if the science of economics would embody in its studies the basic social facts — the social groups, their needs and their dynamics. Standard models of adolescent risk taking posit that the cognitive abilities of adolescents and adults are equivalent, and that increases in risk taking that occur during adolescence are the result of socio emotional differences in impulsivity, sensation seeking, and lack of self-control. Fuzzy-trace theory incorporates these socio emotional differences. However, it predicts that there are also cognitive differences between adolescents and adults, specifically that there are developmental increases in gist-based intuition that reflects understanding. Gist understanding, as opposed to verbatim-based analysis, (...) generally has been hypothesized to have a protective effect on risk taking in adolescence. Gist understanding is also an essential element of informed consent regarding risks in medical decision- making. Evidence thus supports the argument that adolescents’ status as mature minors should be treated as an exception rather than a presumption, because accuracy in verbatim analysis is not mature gist understanding. Use of the exception should be accompanied by medical experts’ input on the bottom-line gist of risks involved in treatment. (shrink)
