Acceptability in France of Induced Abortion for Adolescents.Paul Clay Sorum, Etienne Mullet, Elizabeth Legrain, Céline Peccarisi & María Teresa Muñoz Sastre - 2007 - American Journal of Bioethics 7 (8):26-32.
Background: This study investigated the factors affecting the acceptability in France of abortions. Method: 80 study participants from Toulouse and 124 from Metz judged the acceptability of abortion in 64 vignettes composed of five factors: 1) the adolescent's age (15 or 17.5 years), 2) the adolescent's plans to continue schooling or not, 3) the fetus' age (1, 2, 3, or 4 months), 4) the adolescent's parents' agreement or not, and 5) the agreement or not of baby's father. Results: Three clusters (...)

Strategies Used by Musicians to Identify Notes’ Pitch: Cognitive Bricks and Mental Representations.Alain Letailleur, Erica Bisesi & Pierre Legrain - 2020 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
To this day, the study of the substratum of thought and its implied mechanisms is rarely directly addressed. Nowadays, systemic approaches based on introspective methodologies are no longer fashionable and are often overlooked or ignored. Most frequently, reductionist approaches are followed for deciphering the neuronal circuits functionally associated with cognitive processes. However, we argue that systemic studies of individual thought may still contribute to a useful and complementary description of the multimodal nature of perception, because they can take into account (...)

    Distinguishing three levels in explicit self-awareness.L. Legrain, A. Cleeremans & A. Destrebecqz - 2011 - Consciousness and Cognition 20 (3):578-585.
This paper focuses on the development of explicit self-awareness in children. Mirror self-recognition has been the most popular paradigm used to assess this ability in children. Nevertheless, according to Rochat , there are, at least, three different levels of explicit self-awareness. We therefore designed three different self-recognition tasks, each corresponding to one of these levels . We observed a decrease in performance across the three tasks. This supports a developmental scale in self-awareness. Besides, the masked self-recognition performance makes it possible (...)

No evidence for an effect of selective spatial attention on the development of secondary hyperalgesia: A replication study.Delia Della Porta, Marie-Lynn Vilz, Avgustina Kuzminova, Lieve Filbrich, André Mouraux & Valéry Legrain - 2022 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 16:997230.
Central sensitization refers to the increased responsiveness of nociceptive neurons in the central nervous system after repeated or sustained peripheral nociceptor activation. It is hypothesized to play a key role in the development of chronic pain. A hallmark of central sensitization is an increased sensitivity to noxious mechanical stimuli extending beyond the injured location, known as secondary hyperalgesia. For its ability to modulate the transmission and the processing of nociceptive inputs, attention could constitute a promising target to prevent central sensitization (...)
