Phase-Dependent Crossed Inhibition Mediating Coordination of Anti-phase Bilateral Rhythmic Movement: A Mini Review.Koichi Hiraoka - 2021 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 15.
The activity of the left and right central pattern generators is efficiently coordinated during locomotion. To achieve this coordination, the interplay between the CPG controlling one leg and that controlling another must be present. Previous findings in aquatic vertebrates and mammalians suggest that the alternate activation of the left and right CPGs is mediated by the commissural interneurons crossing the midline of the spinal cord. Especially, V0 commissural interneurons mediate crossed inhibition during the alternative activity of the left and right (...)

How do meiotic chromosomes meet their homologous partners?: lessons from fission yeast.Ayumu Yamamoto & Yasushi Hiraoka - 2001 - Bioessays 23 (6):526-533.
Homologous chromosome pairing is required for proper chromosome segregation and recombination during meiosis. The mechanism by which a pair of homologous chromosomes contact each other to establish pairing is not fully understood. When pairing occurs during meiotic prophase in the fission yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, the nucleus oscillates between the cell poles and telomeres remain clustered at the leading edge of the moving nucleus. These meiosis‐specific activities produce movements of telomere‐bundled chromosomes. Several lines of evidence suggest that these movements facilitate homologous (...)

Mimetic Sadism in the Fiction of Yukio Mishima.Jerry Piven - 2001 - Contagion: Journal of Violence, Mimesis, and Culture 8 (1):69-89.
In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:MIMETIC SADISM IN THE FICTION OF YUKIO MISHIMA Jerry Piven New York University Mishima Yukio (1925-1970) was one ofthe mostenigmatic authors of the 20th century. Novelist, playwright, actor, exhibiionist —his novels are rife with homoerotic and violent imagery, while his fanatical and nihilistic philosophy calls for a return to a Samurai ethos. Mishima thus attained infamy in Japan and in the West, as his shocking novels inspired hordes ofyoung (...)
