  1. Mindfulness meditation improves cognition: Evidence of brief mental training☆.Fadel Zeidan, Susan K. Johnson, Bruce J. Diamond, Zhanna David & Paula Goolkasian - 2010 - Consciousness and Cognition 19 (2):597-605.
Although research has found that long-term mindfulness meditation practice promotes executive functioning and the ability to sustain attention, the effects of brief mindfulness meditation training have not been fully explored. We examined whether brief meditation training affects cognition and mood when compared to an active control group. After four sessions of either meditation training or listening to a recorded book, participants with no prior meditation experience were assessed with measures of mood, verbal fluency, visual coding, and working memory. Both interventions (...)

    It takes guts to grow a brain.Betty Diamond, Patricio T. Huerta, Kevin Tracey & Bruce T. Volpe - 2011 - Bioessays 33 (8):588-591.
A new study entitled “Normal gut microbiota modulates brain development and behavior”, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, requires that we reconsider the notion that the brain is an immune‐privileged site. The authors demonstrate that intestinal microbiota must be present within a set time‐frame for normal synaptogenesis to occur in the brain. In the absence of intestinal microbiota, histopathological and behavioral abnormalities arise. These observations necessitate a new look at the many interconnections of the immune system (...)

Strikes, Nurses and the Law in the UK.B. Diamond - 1997 - Nursing Ethics 4 (4):269-276.
This paper explores the law relating to strikes and other industrial action in the UK and the problems faced by nurse practitioners. It also reviews the advice given to nurses by the professional associations. If any employee takes part in industrial action, he or she could personally face four arenas of accountability for this action: disciplinary proceedings before the employer; criminal proceedings; civil proceedings for negligence; and professional conduct proceedings.

The inner world of unaware phenomena: pathways to brain, behavior, and implicit memory.Bruce J. Diamond - 2022 - Lanham: Lexington Books. Edited by Amy E. Learmonth & Katherine Makarec.
The authors argue that there is a world within us filled with memories, perceptions, tastes, preferences, biases, and beliefs that have been encoded and are expressed on an unaware, largely non-conscious level but, nevertheless, alter the quality, substance and trajectory of our lives.
