According to Plutarch, who is responsible for the ordering of the indeterminate precosmic matter? Is this activity imputable to the divine demiurgic intellect? Or are we to consider the Cosmic Soul as the force which firstly gave shape to the precosmic chora/hyle? By means of examining the iv Platonica Quaestio, I set out to maintain that, at a certain moment of his philosophical career, Plutarch thought it better to relieve the divine intellect from the task of firstly ordering the material (...) substratum; this duty had to fall upon the Cosmic Soul. Thus, he would keep the divine intellect from any engagement in activities concerning the hyle. (shrink)

El propósito de este artículo es esclarecer las múltiples funciones de la noción de koinōnía en los diálogos de Platón. Koinōnía y su ausencia caracterizan la realidad como un todo: tanto las entidades inteligibles como sensibles o se “comunican” o no se “comunican” ; por tanto, reconstruir la red de las relaciones de koinōnia equivale a poner en práctica la dialéctica. Hasta ahí todo está bien. Pero un análisis que apunte a esclarecer el papel de la koinōnía no puede dejar (...) de considerar la syngéneia. La razón de este hecho radica en la relación esencial que vincula a koinōnía y syngéneia, siendo esta última la condición de posibilidad de la primera. (shrink)

La letteratura veneziana degli anni Trenta del Cinquecento è caratterizzata da una volontà di reazione nei confronti della tradizione letteraria precedente. Gli effetti delle guerre d’Italia e la conseguente discesa di Carlo V comportò profondi cambiamenti politici e culturali e una decadenza del sistema delle corti. Autori come Aretino, Speroni e Piccolomini furono tra i primi a cogliere questi mutamenti, scrivendo opere che polemizzano nei confronti di testi ambientati a corte come gli Asolani di Bembo e il (...) Cortegiano di Castiglione. Un aspetto che accomuna questa produzione letteraria è rappresentato dal ruolo preminente che viene affidato ai personaggi femminili. Nei Ragionamenti di Aretino, nella Raffaella di Piccolomini e nel Dialogo d’amore di Speroni, le donne diventano lo strumento principale per esprimere opinioni nuove e polemiche nei confronti delle ipocrisie e delle idealizzazioni del mondo della corte. Nel presente articolo, si evidenzieranno gli aspetti più importanti di queste opere, mostrando come la scelta di personaggi femminili non risponda ad una semplice moda letteraria ma derivi piuttosto da ragioni ideologiche. In this study is edited and examined a letter , in which magister Crissius de Fulgineo announces the death of the astronomer Guillelmus de Luna. In the first part are studied the typology and the rhetorical tradition of the letter, then is discussed the question of translations attributed to Guillelmus de Luna or de Lunis or Lunense, and are advanced hypotheses on the translations that Manfredi of Swabia sent at the University of Paris, probably in 1263.In questo saggio viene edita (...) e studiata una lettera con cui il maestro Crissius de Fulgineo annuncia la morte dell’astronomo Guillelmus de Luna. La lettera – di cui vengono studiate innanzitutto la tipologia e la tradizione retorica – offre l’occasione di affrontare la questione delle traduzioni attribuite a Guillelmus de Luna o de Lunis o Lunense, e di avanzare ipotesi su quali furono le traduzioni che furono inviate, probabilmente nel 1263, all’Università di Parigi da Manfredi di Svevia. L’articolo si concentra sull’analisi della filosofia come istituzione affermatasi neutrale che, tuttavia, si rivela sessuata al maschile attraverso la comprensione del concetto di «differenza sessuale» per come teorizzato da Adriana Cavarero. Utilizzando il quadro concettuale della filosofia come «pratica» intrecciata alle pratiche di vita sviluppato da Carlo Sini, e quello di «ordine del discorso» fornito da Michel Foucault, vengono esplicitate le premesse e le conseguenze dell’ordine del discorso nell’elaborazione dei concetti, per poi presentare delle possibilità di un suo (...) ripensamento attraverso la prassi teorica di Adriana Cavarero – di cui viene proposta un’analisi e sono presentati dei risultati rilevanti anche per il contesto attuale. L’ipotesi in esame suggerisce che la pretesa di neutralità e universalità della filosofia sia minata dalla consapevolezza che il pensatore è un essere vivente la cui esperienza di vita, compresa la propria sessuazione, permea sia il mondo della vita che il mondo del sapere. Dunque, la formazione dei concetti filosofici risulta vincolata alla prospettiva sessuata del soggetto che li elabora. Di conseguenza, l’ordine del discorso neutrale rappresenta tanto lo scacco del pensiero delle donne quanto l’occasione di essere ripraticato. Infine, l’articolo propone una riflessione sui cambiamenti istituzionali avvenuti tra gli anni Ottanta, il periodo di riferimento per la formulazione teorica di Cavarero su cui l’articolo si sofferma, e la situazione attuale dell’Università Italiana in relazione alle questioni di genere. This article discusses the concept of the theophóros ánthropos, which belongs to the Patristic tradition, especially to that of Antioch. This concept was widely used in Christology, while the adjective theophóros/deifer was also used for various purposes within the Patristic tradition, with reference to Christ, to the Virgin Mary, to the angels, to good Christians and to human beings inspired by God. The author presents the relevant Patristic texts, then suggests that this concept or model is used in two ways: (...) in an ‘interdisciplinary’ sense, in that it appears in various theological contexts and fields; and in a ‘dialogical’ sense, insofar as the concept provides a bridge to philosophical as well as theological anthropology. In short, theophóros ánthropos is not only an anthropological model for believers, but also a useful concept in dialogue between theology and other disciplines. (shrink)

The Tritheism of the sixth century has not been widely studied. John Philoponus, the greatest exponent of the theory, developed the idea by applying Aristotelian realism to the doctrine of the Trinity and concluded that in the Trinity there are three hypostases and three natures, whence comes the name for those who hold this position: “Tri-theists,” since they divide the one nature and substance of God into three. This article sheds light on the earliest stage of the development of Tritheism (...) beginning in the year 557, when we can date the first appearance of John Askotzanges in the sources, and goes up until the first Syndocticon, the agreement reached between the Tritheists and the Theodosians at Constantinople in the beginning of the year 567. After the death of Theodosius in 566, Tritheism no longer remained merely a local reality in Constantinople but spilled over the confines of the Imperial capital and spread throughout the East, especially in Egypt. This article discusses the charity towards the poor that characterized the so-called cura animarum of Pope Gregory the Great. It draws its information first from the Registrum Epistularum and then from the Vita Gregorii Magni of John the Deacon. From the Registrum the author gathers information on the honesty and competence of the administrators of the ecclesiastical patrimony, and on the use of goodness and rigour in the exercise of power. From the Vita, the author highlights some hagiographic aspects related (...) to donations to the poor. This article presents the theme of Pope Gregory’s charity by drawing on both historical and hagiographic sources, highlighting how certain events and aspects of his life flourished in later hagiographical legend. This article re-examines the attention scholars have given to the origins of monoergenism and monotheletism and proposes a rebuttal to the positions of J. Tannous who, in an article in Dumbarton Oaks Papers in 2014, holds that these doctrines represented in Syro/Palestine certain “regional doctrinal hegemonies, at least among Chalcedonian communities, and were not artificial concoctions”. For the author, on the other hand, the episcopal sees in these regions had to have been for the most part in the hands of (...) monophysites, without in any way excluding the possibility that there were also Chalcedonian bishops and communities as well, as in the case of Abraham of Rusafa. Thus, for the Author, monoenergism and monotheletism, from an epistemological and theological point of view, were the last glimmer of Apollinarism which was continually re-emerging from the ashes and given a new life by Severian monophysitism. From the margins the author offers evidence of the liminality of the believers in Christ with respect to Jews and Pagans; from the (...) contents he offers some reflections on the canonical Gospels, the day of celebration, the organization of the community and communication between the communities. The unitive outlook with which the author approaches the first testimony of Christianity distances his point of view from the pluralistic visions which are more in fashion among historians, who prefer to speak ofChristianities and not of a Christianity. _Defensione delle donne_, de Agostino Strozzi, es una de las obras filóginas más significativas en lengua italiana compuesta a finales del siglo XV. Nos consta la existencia de dos versiones recogidas en dos manuscritos que presentan contrastes significativos entre ambas. Una de ellas más extensa y, sobre todo, más radical en sus argumentos en defensa de las virtudes femeninas, está dedicada a su prima Margherita Cantelmo. En esta comunicación se describe y profundiza en los contrastes presentes en ambas versiones (...) o, dicho con otras palabras, en lo que podemos considerar como dos misteriosos manuscritos. Filosofia delle donne (Philosophy of Women) is a book written in Italian in which authors Pieranna Garavaso (University of Minnesota, Morris, USA) and Nicla Vassallo (University of Genoa, Italy) claim that a greater interaction between analytic philosophy and feminist philosophies can generate philosophical theories that are more accessible and relevant to a broader range of people. This interaction can also produce richer solutions to traditional philosophical problems. All’interno del dialogo _Della Dignità e Nobiltà delle Donne _(1622), Cristoforo Bronzini afferma con decisione che numerose donne nel corso della storia si sono distinte nell’ambito della scrittura, a dispetto di obsoleti pregiudizi: l’articolo si propone di indagare le modalità con le quali Bronzini declina il paradigma della differenza di genere, offrendo nello specifico una breve panoramica sulle scrittrici umanistico-rinascimentali che l’autore propone come massimi _exempla_ _virtutis_.

L’introduzione articola alcuni nodi concettuali che affiorano nell’indagare il pensiero politico delle donne nella prima modernità, in Europa e non solo. In particolare, si pone l’accento su quattro aspetti principali: il nesso tra politica e teologia, alla luce della pervasività della religione nella vita quotidiana e nell’elaborazione intellettuale; il rapporto simultaneamente di critica e legittimazione del potere politico; la messa in questione delle autorità patriarcali che pretendono di detenere il monopolio del sacro; l’affacciarsi delle donne (...) sulla sfera pubblica nella sua lunga genesi. Inoltre, l’introduzione mostra le continuità e le discontinuità tra medioevo e prima età moderna per quanto concerne il pensiero politico delle donne, suggerendo la necessità di ripensare la tradizionale periodizzazione più attenta alle cesure che alle diverse facce della transizione.
