De Orbitis Planetarum, tesis presentada por Hegel en 1801 para acceder a la Universidad de Jena, es el texto menos conocido del filósofo alemán. Considerado un inmaduro ejercicio de juventud, este libro muestra no sólo el pensamiento del joven Hegel, sino que también refleja el ambiente que enmarcaba el idealismo alemán en torno a la filosofía de la naturaleza. Sin embargo Hegel mantuvo un concepto referido al funcionamiento y legitimidad de los procesos científicos que aparece esbozado (...) en este texto. Esta obra es de gran interés para amantes de la filosofía, astrónomos e historiadores de la ciencia, pues en ella aparece la difícil relación que actualmente mantienen filosofía y ciencia. Uno de los motivos que impulsó a Hegel a escribirla fue el deseo de mantener en relación estos dominios del saber, hasta entonces un único cuerpo de conocimiento. (shrink)

Spanish readers are fortunate in having a publishing house which is committed to reproduce in Spanish the complete works of Georg Lukács. The complete edition will consist of twenty-four, or more, volumes, of which ten are already in print, covering mainly Lukács works on esthetics and literary criticism. The Hegel volume was originally published in German in 1948. The main draft was written as early as the fall of 1938, but the outbreak of World War II delayed publication. Lukács (...) at that time was in the Soviet Union where, following Stalin's lead, Hegel was characterized as an apologist for the Prussian feudal opposition to the French revolution. Considering the winning of the war as more important than provoking a controversy over Hegel, Lukács put his manuscript aside for the duration. In The Young Hegel, Lukács settles his account with Hegel, much as Marx and Engels in The German Ideology--with one significant difference. The objective of Marx and Engels was the abolition of Hegelianism. Their polemic, therefore, was directed against Hegel and the neo-Hegelians. Lukács, on the other hand, sought the restoration of the Hegelian dimension of Marxism, and, while accepting the Marxian critique of Hegelianism, directed his attack against the detractors of Hegel--against the Stalin line within Marxism and against those like Dilthey and Kierkegaard outside of Marxism who transformed Hegel into an "irrationalist." Lukács is consequently much more positive in his treatment of Hegel than Marx and Engels. In History and Class Consciousness, Lukács emphasized the necessity of understanding Hegel in order to properly understand Marx. In The Young Hegel, the emphasis is on the dialectical opposite--Hegel is understood through the eyes of Marx, through the critique of Marx and through a Marxian interpretation by Lukács. Lukács' unique contribution in the present work is the detailed study of the close union of philosophy and economics in the genesis of Hegel's thought. Indeed, the original subtitle of the German edition reads: Über die Beziehungen von Dialektik und Ökonomie. The Spanish edition has a two-and-a-half page preface, written specially for it by Lukács in 1963, in which he states his conviction of the importance in the thought of Hegel and other great philosophers of concern with economic problems, both from the standpoint of economic theory and actual economic conditions. El pluralismo religioso trata de presentar lugares comunes en los que establecer diálogos entre diferentes religiones sin intención de persuadir. En esta investigación se aborda el pluralismo religioso en los periodos de Tubinga y Berna de Hegel. Esto es, en la filosofía del joven Hegel, periodo en el que se dedicó especialmente a la reflexión sobre la política y la religión. En este periodo, menos estudiado por la academia que su madurez, encontramos que hay al menos tres (...) lugares comunes que pueden facilitar el diálogo interreligioso: el sentimiento, la universalidad ética y la libertad. En esta investigación se presenta estos tres tópicos que Hegel descubre para el diálogo entre diferentes religiones para, finalmente, conectarlos con la discusión cronológicamente posterior sobre el pluralismo religioso. En los escritos de juventud de Hegel es posible identificar problemas conceptuales formulados en el lenguaje del sentimiento. Así, la separación y la contradicción son comparados al dolor y al sufrimiento mientras la unidad y la razón son nombradas también como amor y destino. Gradualmente, el joven filósofo da forma al problema sobre el cual parece tener angustia: la alienación, en sus manifestaciones teológicas, filosóficas y políticas. Intentaremos reconstruir tres desarrollos de esta angustia de la alienación en el (...) joven Hegel. En primer lugar, en relación con la cuestión de la felicidad en Kant, a seguir en lo que llama la positividad de la religión judía y la cristiana. La angustia o el sufrimiento de la alienación puede comprenderse, así, como un sentimiento fundamental en el origen del pensar hegeliano. (shrink)

Este trabajo intenta una aproximación a los orígenes de la dialéctica hegeliana. La tesis que se busca desarrollar es la de que tales orígenes descansarían en la especulación del joven Hegel en torno a la idea del amor. Desde el punto de vista filosófico esta reflexión representa el primer intento del joven Hegel por abordar dialécticamente el problema de la contradicción entre amor y reflexión, amor y objetividad, subjetividad y objetividad, vida infinita y vida finita.

According to Levinas, the philosophy of being is essentially violent because being is identified with its own negation. The Hegelian Absolute Subject is the perfect expression of the philosophy of Identity and represents the greatest violence. Levinas develops a philosophy of asymmetric inter-subjectivity as a space where difference is possible, offering an alternative to the modern subject.

Se mostrará cómo el pensamiento sobre lo trágico como género literario pero, más allá de ello, como metáfora de las dualidades características de la modernidad, jugó un papel fundamental en la configuración y el desarrollo del pensamiento de ambos autores. Tanto para Schiller, como para el joven Hegel, la tragedia se convirtió en el marco teórico y el espacio de referencia de una propuesta que, en el primer caso, intenta recuperar la posibilidad de la libertad del hombre en (...) el mundo y, en el segundo, interpretar el movimiento del pensamiento en la realidad. En este trabajo se estudia el vínculo entre el pensamiento hobbesiano y la filosofía política de Hegel en los escritos de Jena. En particular, tomando como punto de partida el nexo entre la lucha de todos contra todos en el estado de naturaleza hobbesiano, y la lucha por el reconocimiento en Hegel, se confrontan ambas teorías políticas, a fin de sopesar y evaluar hasta qué punto es posible encontrar en Hobbes un antecedente a núcleos filosóficos centrales del pensamiento (...) del joven Hegel (v. g. el Estado como realización de la eticidad, la lucha por el reconocimiento, la constitución de la intersubjetividad). Most of the major schools of contemporary philosophy, from Marxism to Existentialism, are reactions to Hegelianism and all, if they are to be understood, require some understanding of Hegel's Logic. From its first appearance in 1812, this work has been recognized by both admirers and detractors alike as being the absolute foundation of Hegel's system.

En este trabajo se evalúan algunas de las continuidades y rupturas entre el hegelianismo y la obra temprana de Karl Marx. Se intenta mostrar, contra la lectura althusseriana, que la crítica de la dialéctica hegeliana acometida en los Manuscritos de 1844 sitúa a Marx fuera de todo marco antropocéntrico y de todo primado del sujeto. El recurso al pensamiento de Adorno permitirá precisar algunos elementos propios de una dialéctica negativa en el planteamiento juvenil marxiano. Esta relectura autoriza, asimismo, la recuperación (...) de ciertos trazos de dicho planteamiento en el contexto filosófico contemporáneo. In this article i intend to analize some of the differences and resemblances between Hegel and Marx's early work. I will try to prove that, against the Althusserian interpretation, the young Marx does not endorse any form of anthropocentrism or primacy of the subject. This analysis will also be oriented by some of the concepts of Adorno's Negative Dialectics. Revisiting Marx this way will enable us to critically reconsider the possible relevance of early Marxian thought in the contemporary philosophical context. (shrink)

According to a traditional conception, romantic love is both constant - if someone loves another, they continue to love them - and exclusive - if someone loves another, they love only the other. In this paper, we argue that the essentiality of constancy and exclusivity is incompatible with the possibilities of fission - roughly speaking, of one person becoming two - and fusion - roughly speaking, of two people becoming one. Moreover, if fission or fusion are possible, then constancy and (...) exclusivity are obligatory features of love only if there are moral dilemmas. We conclude by suggesting this casts doubt on the constancy and especially the exclusivity of love. (shrink)

Cotnoir’s gappy solution to the traditional paradox of unrestricted omnipotence does not extend to a Curry-like version of the paradox. In this paper, we show that it does extend to it.

This new translation of The Science of Logic (also known as 'Greater Logic') includes the revised Book I (1832), Book II (1813), and Book III (1816). Recent research has given us a detailed picture of the process that led Hegel to his final conception of the System and of the place of the Logic within it. We now understand how and why Hegel distanced himself from Schelling, how radical this break with his early mentor was, and to what (...) extent it entailed a return (but with a difference) to Fichte and Kant. In his two articles, F. P. A. Demeterio III attempts to classify works in Filipino philosophy using a list of twelve (or sixteen) supposed discourses that prominent philosophers in the Philippines have engaged in and published over the past few years. From this list, he advises current Filipino philosophers to invest their time and effort in contributing to only five of these because of their alleged higher measure of "developmental potential" as opposed to other discourses. In this paper, we raise (...) some fundamental issues with Demeterio's approach. We show that (i) his work's conclusions rest on questionable methodological assumptions that make (ii) the discourses which the work arrived at and the rankings in terms of "developmental potential" superficial and ungrounded. Finally, (iii) instead of fulfilling the main aim of advancing research in Filipino philosophy, the proposed approach may actually lead to its stagnation and demise. We argue that these issues, if left unanswered, make Demeterio's whole approach to Filipino philosophy unsound and may put into question the employment of such an approach. (shrink)

É possível ensinar filosofia? O filósofo alemão G. W. F. Hegel (1770- 1831) não somente responde afirmativamente à questão posta, como também indica o que deve ser ensinado e como em filosofia. A resposta hegeliana tem como fonte sua atividade como diretor do ginásio de Nürnberg, onde ele procura estabelecer diretrizes e procedimentos para que a filosofia seja ensinada aos jovens. Segundo Hegel, a filosofia sempre é pertinente na medida em que se manifesta sobre o que é fundamental (...) para o homem, isto é, sobre sua vida com as questões que lhe dizem respeito. Para tanto, a filosofia deve assumir o homem como seu objeto de consideração. Isto deve resultar na apreciação da realidade humana para que a partir dela sejam levados e elevados à sua maior e melhor compreensão pela reflexão e pela especulação. Tais habilidades não são adquiridas senão pelo contato direto com a filosofia em sua especificidade na sua produção histórica, ou seja, nos textos. Conhecer a história da filosofia já é aprender filosofia, mas tal aprendizagem necessita da mediação do professor. A mediação se faz necessária, pois a aprendizagem não é natural e, portanto, não se dá espontaneamente. Aprender é sempre aprender com alguém. (shrink)
