Imagination and Creation.Robert A. Delfino & Jerome C. Hillock - 2014-09-19 - In William Irwin & Christopher Robichaud (eds.), Dungeons & Dragons and Philosophy. Wiley. pp. 93–105.
This chapter examines traditionalists’ arguments why Dungeons Dragons (DD) is good for us first, and then discusses the cases where it could be bad for us. The irony for Christian critics of DD, such as Schnoebelen, is that the philosophical and theological arguments of Christian traditionalists, such as Thomas Aquinas and J.R.R. Tolkien, provide some of the strongest arguments in favor of DD role‐playing. However, to be fair, these same arguments can be used to argue that a particular DD game, (...)

    I’ll be back… or not.Robert A. Delfino - 2009 - The Philosophers' Magazine 45 (45):102-105.
There is a serious flaw in The Terminator which pretty much ruins the storyline. The problem is about Kyle Reese, who must enter the time-displacement equipment in the future, sometime after the Terminator had already entered it. We call this the “Bad Timing Problem”.

What Are We to Understand Gracia to Mean?: Realist Challenges to Metaphysical Neutralism.Robert A. Delfino (ed.) - 2006 - BRILL.
This book provides a series of challenges to Jorge J. E. Gracia’s views on metaphysics and categories made by realist philosophers in the Aristotelian and Thomistic traditions. Inclusion of Gracia’s responses to his critics makes this book a useful companion to Gracia’s _Metaphysics and its Task: The Search for the Categorial Foundation of Knowledge_.

Pinto - 2020 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
8 March, now known as International Women’s Day, is a day for feminist claims where demonstrations are organized in over 150 countries, with the participation of millions of women all around the world. These demonstrations can be viewed as collective rituals and thus focus attention on the processes that facilitate different psychosocial effects. This work aims to explore the mechanisms involved in participation in the demonstrations of 8 March 2020, collective and ritualized feminist actions, and their correlates associated with personal (...)

    The Call and the Response. [REVIEW]Robert A. Delfino - 2005 - Review of Metaphysics 58 (4):882-884.
Chapter 1 begins with the paradox of the origin of speech. He asks: “Does the tight mutual embrace of call and response, through which what responds calls and what calls responds, imply a vicious circle, or does it reveal that there is no difference between affirming speech to spring from being called and affirming that every first utterance is really a response[?]”. In defending the latter position he draws on the Platonic and Neoplatonic tradition of understanding beauty as a call. (...)

Children’s Microsystems and Their Relationship to Stress and Executive Functioning.Jose Antonio Campos-Gil, Patricia Ortega-Andeane & Delfino Vargas - 2020 - Frontiers in Psychology 11:523266.
Microsystems are described as contexts formed by a subject, their roles, interactions, and a specific physical space and time, such as housing and the school environment. Although several studies suggest the importance of studying this type of environment and its repercussion on children's development, in a Latin American context few studies integrate the interaction of two primary settings in the development of executive functioning. The present study explores the effects of the quality of housing and school environments on the perception (...)

The consistency strength of projective absoluteness.Kai Hauser - 1995 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 74 (3):245-295.
It is proved that in the absence of proper class inner models with Woodin cardinals, for each n ε {1,…,ω}, ∑3 + n1 absoluteness implies there are n strong cardinals in K (where this denotes a suitably defined global version of the core model for one Woodin cardinal as exposed by Steel. Combined with a forcing argument of Woodin, this establishes that the consistency strength of ∑3 + n1 absoluteness is exactly that of n strong cardinals so that in particular (...)

The core model for almost linear iterations.Ralf-Dieter Schindler - 2002 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 116 (1-3):205-272.
We introduce 0• as a sharp for an inner model with a proper class of strong cardinals. We prove the existence of the core model K in the theory “ does not exist”. Combined with work of Woodin, Steel, and earlier work of the author, this provides the last step for determining the exact consistency strength of the assumption in the statement of the 12th Delfino problem pp. 221–224)).

    Metaphysics and Evolution: Response to Critics.Dennis F. Polis - 2021 - Studia Gilsoniana 10 (4):847–891.
I respond to Michał Chaberek’s and Robert A. Delfino’s criticisms of my argument that evolution is compatible with Aristotelian-Thomistic metaphysics. Biological species, as secondary substances, are beings of reason founded in the natures of their instances. They are traceable to God’s creative intent, but not to universal exemplars. Aquinas teaches that concepts are derived from sensible accidents. Thus, evolution’s directed variation of such accidents will eventually require new species concepts. This accords with projective realism, which allows diverse, well-founded concepts (...)
