Oma algses mitmetähenduslikkuses on see F. Baconi aforism kõige tihendatum tõdemus, mis tõmbab olemusliku eraldusjoone ühelt poolt antiikse ja keskaegse ning teisalt uusaegse arusaama vahele teadusest ja teadusteadmisest. Artiklis püüab autor anda võimaluste piires tervikpildi uusaja teaduse industriaalselt (tehnoloogiliselt) orienteeritud teadmistüübi tekkimisest. Uusaja teaduse kujunemiseks vajaliku pöörde maailmavaateliste eeldustena tuleb käsitleda: (1) põhimõtteliselt uut subjekti ja objekti käsitust; (2) täiesti uut väärtusruumi, uut teaduse ideoloogiat (ilmalikkus, kriitiline vaim, tõesus ja praktiline kasulikkus); (3) tunnetuslaadi muutust — kontemplatsioonilt interventsioonile, kvaliteedi kirjeldamiselt kvantiteedi (...) uurimisele; (4) looduse käsitlemist Kosmose asemel seaduspäraselt korrastatud objektide “väljana”. Uue tunnetusstiili — empiirilise ja teoreetilise tunnetuse kokkuviimine, hüpoteetilis-deduktiivse metodoloogia kujundamine Galilei poolt, abstraktse ja sünteetilis-tekstilise loomuga spekulatsiooni asendumine uurimisobjekti ehituse, korrapära ja põhjuslikkuse objektiivse analüüsiga, universaalsete loodusseaduste doktriini kujunemine jms—kujunemine konstitueeris uut tüüpi teadmise. Teadmise kui nähtava maailma piltkoopia asemele luuakse teadmine kui loodusobjektide seaduspära analüütiline rekonstruktsioon. See on vormiltmatemaatiline, päritolult eksperimentaalne ning loodusobjektide kontrollimisele ja ümbertegemisele suunatud nn valdamisteadmine. This F. Bacon's aphorism in its original ambiguity is the most condensed belief that draws a distinctive essential line between ancient and medieval understanding of science and scientific knowledge on one hand and modern understanding on the other. The author aims at providing, as far as possible, an integral overview of emerging of the industrially (technologically) orientated type of knowledge of modern times. Ideological/philosophical preconditions of the change necessary for emerging of modern science are: (1) a fundamentally new approach to the subject and object; (2) a completely new system of values, a new ideology of science (secularity, critical spirit, trueness and utilitarianism); (3) a change in manner of cognizance - from contemplation to intervention, from describing quality to studying quantity; (4) treating nature as a naturally organised "field" of objects instead of the Cosmos. Emerging of a new style of cognizance - bringing together of empirical and theoretical cognition, the devise of the hypothetical-deductive method by Galilei, replacement of speculations abstract and synthetic-textual in nature with objective study of the structure, regularity and causality of the object of study, establishment of the doctrine of universal natural laws etc - constituted a new type of knowledge. Knowledge as a copy of the visible world is replaced by knowledge as an analytical reconstruction of the regularity of natural objects. It is so-called dispositive knowledge, morphologically mathematical, originally experimental and aimed at control and alteration of natural objects. (shrink)

The researcher believes that educational institutions should focus on creating an environment in which the child’s inner potential will be revealed, nurturing his individuality, taking into account dreams and needs. The scientist draws attention to the fact that the result of education is not the amount of acquired knowledge, but the ability and ability of a person to use the knowledge resource in solving practical tasks and life situations. The ability to make independent decisions, effectively solve practical situations and calculate the consequences of one’s actions, etc., is much more important than “filling the head” with ready-made information. Quality education becomes a global value and a categorical condition for competitive strategic development of society. At the same time, the creation and construction of quality education will contribute to the development of Ukrainian society, will allow education to be at the forefront of new social changes. Grundlage des vorliegenden Aufsatzes ist ein auf der IV. Jahreskonferenz der Estnischen Philosophie am 6. Mai 2008 gehaltener teilweise erinnerungsbildlicher Vortrag. Der Vortrag bietet einen verhältnismäss ig ganzheitlichen und überblickartigen Einblick in die Forschung und Lehre des Fachs Philosophie in Estland während der sogenannten Sowjetzeit in den Jahren 1940/41 und 1944 bis 1991. Genauere Aufgabe des Vortragenden resp. Verfassers war eine Charakterisierung der vorherigen Forschung und Lehre vom Standpunkt der Philosophiegeschichte, der Ästhetik und der Übersetzung philosophischer Werke her. Nach der (...) Besetzung Estlands im Jahre 1940 wurde sowohl die Universitätsstudium als auch Wissenschaft, darunter auch die Lehre und gesamte Forschungstätigkeit auf dem Gebiet der Philosophie an der Universität Tartu einer strengen ideologisch-politischen Kontrolle unterworfen, um sowohl organisatorisch als auch inhaltlich die groben ideologisch-politischen Ziele der neuen Macht zu verwirklichen. Diese Richtung wurde nach der neuen sowjetischen Besetzung Estlands 1944 fortgesetzt. Gewisse Voraussetzungen und Möglichkeiten für die freieren Philosophieunterricht und entsprechenden Untersuchungstätigkeit, die man auch maximal zu benutzen versuchte, eröffneten sich nach dem Stalins Tode in Jahren 1953-1956. Allmählich bildete sich an der Universität Tartu auch eine nationale Kerngruppe der estnischsprachigen Philosophie-Lehrer und -Forscher, dank dem und denen konnte man in Jahren der neuen Befreiung Estlands 1987-1991, fast problemlos zur freien Philosophieunterricht als Fach und philosophischen Forschung in der im ideologisch-politischen Sinne freien Atmosphäre überzugehen. Der Verfasser belegt das durch reichliches faktisches Material. This article is based on a presentation held on the 4th Annual Conference of Estonian Philosophy on May 6th 2008. The article presents a comprehensive overview of teaching and research in philosophy during the Soviet occupation in 1940-1941 and 1944-1991. It focuses on history of philosophy, aesthetics and translation of philosophical literature. After Estonia was occupied in 1940, higher education and research, including teaching and researching philosophy in the University of Tartu, were substantially submitted to the rough ideological-political purposes of the new rule. This path continued from the year 1944, when Estonia was occupied again. Some kind of new more-or-less free possibilities and expectancies for teaching philosophy and doing research became available in years 1953-1956 after the death of Stalin. Slowly begun the formation of the cadre of Estonian teachers and researchers of philosophy. Gradually philosophy became a separate speciality in the University of Tartu and during the years 1987--1991 teaching and research became free from ideological and political pressure. On the views of Paulo Freire, Brazilian educator on education; a study.

One of the most debated issues in African philosophy concerns the question of ethnophilosophy. While most Particularists equate it to African philosophy, the Universalists reject it as philosophy let alone being African philosophy. The rationale behind the second position is that ethnophilosophy is said to be descriptive and lacks argumentation, criticality, rigor and systematicity, which are the hallmarks of philosophy. What these two views revolve around is the question of the place of ethnophilosophy in African philosophy. Here, I focus on (...) two scholars who have sought to address this question. The first is Ada Agada, who opines that ethnophilosophy plays a foundational role to African philosophy. The other is Aribiah Attoe, who sees this view as a myth that must be done away with. In this paper, I show two things: first, I show that these two conflicting views arose due to both scholars’ failure to clarify their ideas of what makes a philosophy African. Second, I converse with Attoe on his critique of the foundational role of ethnophilosophy as a myth. Here, I contend that Attoe’s view is a misreading of Agada’s views and that Attoe’s position that critical rigor instead of ethnophilosophy should be the foundation of African philosophy is unfounded. My argument is that criticality is just one among other tools of philosophy; and a tool of philosophy cannot be its foundation.
