Quisquis Deum intellegit, Deus Fit: The Syntax of upa √ās in the Bṛhadāraṇyaka and Chāndogya Upaniṣad.Paolo Visigalli - 2020 - Journal of Indian Philosophy 48 (2):191-228.
Verbal forms of upa √ās are one of the characteristic features of Upaniṣadic diction. While several studies have investigated their semantics, very little attention has been given to their syntax. A quick comparison of different translations shows that there is no agreement among Upaniṣadic interpreters regarding the syntax of upa √ās. By considering all its occurrences in the Bṛhadāraṇyaka and Chāndogya Upaniṣads, this paper offers the first systematic study of its syntax. It is hoped that the analytic model proposed here (...)

Comparative political philosophy: studies under the upas tree.Anthony Parel & Ronald C. Keith (eds.) - 1992 - Newbury Park, Calif.: Sage Publications.
Like many disciplines, the study of political philosophy has, to a large extent, been the study of modern western political philosophy, particularly liberalism, utilitarianism, and socialism. As a consequence, the study of comparative political philosophy is still in its infancy. The contributors to this volume move beyond this Eurocentric bias to facilitate and exchange perspectives originating in European, Chinese, Indian, and Islamic communities. They document the responses to the perilous transition from "tradition" to "modernity" and address the commonality of human (...)

Breast cancer and metabolic syndrome linked through the plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 cycle.Lea M. Beaulieu, Brandi R. Whitley, Theodore F. Wiesner, Sophie M. Rehault, Diane Palmieri, Abdel G. Elkahloun & Frank C. Church - 2007 - Bioessays 29 (10):1029-1038.
Plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 (PAI‐1) is a physiological inhibitor of urokinase (uPA), a serine protease known to promote cell migration and invasion. Intuitively, increased levels of PAI‐1 should be beneficial in downregulating uPA activity, particularly in cancer. By contrast, in vivo, increased levels of PAI‐1 are associated with a poor prognosis in breast cancer. This phenomenon is termed the “PAI‐1 paradox”. Many factors are responsible for the upregulation of PAI‐1 in the tumor microenvironment. We hypothesize that there is a breast cancer (...)

    God and (Nearly) Universal Pluralistic Antirealism.Mark McLeod-Harrison - 2009 - Polish Journal of Philosophy 3 (1):33-50.
This essay takes on two challenges to universal pluralistic antirealism (UPA). One of those challenges is successful, so the universality of UPA is not entirely plausible. However, I propose that the best way to remain as close to the spirit of UPA is to be a theist. God is the only thing that needs to be outside the universal claim of UPA. However, even God is what God is partially within human noetic schemes. Since God is “in the mix” with (...)

Its purport is inconceivable liberation-development and liberation of living beings-purification of Buddha-fields. These three items are one essentially, the inconceivable liberation being the essence of its purport and the development and liberation of living beings and the purification of Buddha-fields being the function of it. Essence and function are identical. This sutra has a structure that goes forward step by step and arranges (...)
