Wenn auch philosophischen Ursprungs, reflektieren die ausgewählten Philosophen die Bezüge zu theologischen, psychologischen, psychosomatischen, naturwissenschaftlichen und medizinischen Dimensionen dieses Problems. Im Vordergrund steht dabei die Herausarbeitung aller Aspekte des Leib-Seele-Problems. Das Thema „Dialektik“ bildet in verschiedensten Feldern einen Hauptschwerpunkt im Werk von Wolfdietrich Schmied-Kowarzik. Mit dem Stichwort „Dialog“ wird zugleich sein spezifischer Zugang zur Dialektik und den mit ihr verbundenen Problemhorizonten angedeutet. So verweist Dialog darauf, dass Wolfdietrich Schmied-Kowarzik Dialektik immer als eine der gesellschaftlichen Praxis versteht, in der die Menschen in ihrer Geschichte ihr gesellschaftliches Zusammenleben in dialogisch-praktischer Auseinandersetzung miteinander gestalten. Und so ist ihm der gelungene gesellschaftlich-geschichtlich vermittelte Dialog in wechselseitiger Anerkennung und Offenheit der Dialogpartner ein gleichsam paradigmatisches (...) Geschehen, das auf die unhintergehbare Möglichkeit einer befreiten gesellschaftlichen Praxis hindeutet. Zugleich ist der Hinweis auf eine befreiende dialogische gesellschaftliche Praxis auf ein Hinführen zu einer solchen Praxis bezogen, die sich in Bildungs- und Erziehungsprozessen zeitigt, die einen weiteren Schwerpunkt im Schaffen Wolfdietrich Schmied-Kowarziks bilden. Der erzieherisch-bildende Dialog zwischen Erziehenden und zu Erziehenden, mithin das Problem einer Hinführung zu einer gesellschaftlich und geschichtlich reflektierten freien Praxis sowie die Notwendigkeit, den Erzieher selbst zu einer befreiten gesellschaftlichen Praxis zu erziehen, stellt nicht nur den Kern seiner pädagogischen Schriften, sondern zugleich die fortdauernde Bemühung seiner eigenen pädagogischen Praxis als Hochschullehrer dar. Drittens schließlich findet sich der Dialog auch im inter- bzw. transkulturellen Dialog der Kulturen wieder, der im Werk Wolfdietrich Schmied-Kowarziks eine ebenso zentrale Rolle spielt. Die kulturelle Praxis und die offene Anerkennung der Kulturen in ihren je eigenen Traditionszusammenhängen im Hinblick auf einen befreiten dialogischen Austausch menschlicher Kultur(en) jenseits kolonialer Übergriffe und kapitalistisch-vereinheitlichender Gleichschaltung ist Wolfdietrich Schmied-Kowarzik ein durchgängiges Anliegen in seinem Werk, insofern ein solcher offener Dialog die Voraussetzung für das Gelingen einer anzustrebenden wahrhaft menschlichen Kultur ist, die in ihrer wechselseitigen Freiheit zugleich ihre produktive Vielfältigkeit behält. Die in diesem Sammelband "Anfänge bei Hegel" vereinigten Beiträge gehen zum größeren Teil auf Vorträge zurück, die auf dem gleichnamigen Symposion gehalten wurden, das wir zum 70. Geburtstag von Helmut Schneider am 2. Juli 2008 an der Universität Kassel durchführten. Darüber hinaus haben wir zur Abrundung der Thematik noch weitere Artikel von Freunden eingeholt, sodass nun ein in sich gerundetes Studienbuch zu Hegel sowie zeitlich und kritisch über ihn hinaus entstanden ist.

Das Verhältnis von Natur und Idee ist für jede idealistische Philosophie ein Kernpunkt ihres Ansatzes. Hegel bestimmte die Natur als das Andere der Idee, die sich in Freiheit als Natur aus sich entläßt. In der Natur zeigen sich die logischen Strukturen verhüllt und im Abbild, z. B. die Naturgesetze und die logischen Beziehungen. Auch die Kategorie des Lebens in Hegels Logik belegt die enge Verbindung von Natur und Logik. Die Entäußerung der Idee in der Natur gehört zum Wesen der Idee (...) auf ihrem Weg zum Geist. Diese Thematik wird in acht Beiträgen von bekannten Hegelforschern unter verschiedenen Aspekten bearbeitet. When Professor Johannes Hoffmeister died in Bonn in 1955, a unique institution was created to continue the project he had begun - the historic-critical edition of the complete works of Hegel. This institution is known as the Hegel-Archiv.

Intrinsic religiosity drives ethical consumer behavior; however, previous studies regarding this connection are limited solely to a Christian cultural context. This comparative study instead includes Christian Consumers from Germany and Moslem Consumers from Turkey to determine if a specific religious community moderates the connection between intrinsic religiosity and consumer ethics. The results show that Consumers in the Turkish, Moslem subsample, exhibit an even stronger connection between religiosity and ethical consumer behavior than Consumers from the German, Christian subsample.

At the same time, however, historians of philosophy are discovering that eclecticism was a distinct and important feature of European intellectual history. Both varieties wanted to distance themselves from the mainstream philosophy of their time—German eclectics fighting the influence of Cartesianism, while France’s foremost eclectic, Cousin, was trying to supersede Hegel and Schelling.The first to point out the importance of eclecticism in early modern European philosophy was Helmut Holzhey, 1 and the most condensed account of the whole “syndrome” was given by Horst Dreitzel. 2 We know now that eclecticism was unjustly removed from the history of philosophy. Im Hörsaal zeigt sich das europäische Philosophieren jederzeit mündlich und beweglich. Viele pilgerten zwischen 1970 und 1984 nach Paris, wo Michel Foucault dreizehn umfangreiche Vorlesungen hielt. Sein Publikum erstaunte vor dem Wechsel an Themen, Texten und Bildern. Foucault sprach über Machtverhältnisse, Strafregime und diskursive Ordnungen, er thematisierte die Sexualität, das Wahrsagen und wie gut zu leben sei. Driven by the question, 'What is the computational content of a (formal) proof?', this book studies fundamental interactions between proof theory and computability. In 2004, Michael Burawoy challenged sociologists to move beyond the ivory tower and into the realm of activism, to engage in public discourses about what society could or should be. His call to arms sparked intense debate among sociologists. Which side would "sociology" take? Who would define "the norm," and how could public sociology possibly speak for all sociologists?
