Contract Law and the Liberalism of Fear.Nathan B. Oman - 2019 - Theoretical Inquiries in Law 20 (2):381-410.
Liberalism’s concern with human freedom seems related to contractual freedom and thus contract law. There are, however, many strands of liberal thought and which of them best justifies contract is a difficult question. In The Choice Theory of Contracts, Hanoch Dagan and Michael Heller offer a vision of contract based on autonomy. Drawing on the work of Joseph Raz, they argue that extending autonomy should be the law’s primary concern, which requires that we extend the range of contractual choices available. (...)

Have hope: 365 encouraging poems, prayers, and meditations for daily inspiration.Maggie Oman Shannon - 2021 - Coral Gables: Conari Press.
Hope. The very word became world-changing in 2008, as we saw a man who many considered to be an unlikely presidential candidate ride to victory on his message of hope. Indeed, hope--which, perhaps to some, once seemed a soft, somewhat wishy-washy quality--is being redefined by millions as a powerful, dynamic force in a world that demands the heart-felt commitment of its inhabitants in order to even survive. In the twenty-first century, the need for hope--for the intention, commitment, and action that (...)

On the axiom of union.Greg Oman - 2010 - Archive for Mathematical Logic 49 (3):283-289.
In this paper, we study the union axiom of ZFC. After a brief introduction, we sketch a proof of the folklore result that union is independent of the other axioms of ZFC. In the third section, we prove some results in the theory T:= ZFC minus union. Finally, we show that the consistency of T plus the existence of an inaccessible cardinal proves the consistency of ZFC.

The theory of integrally closed domains is not finitely axiomatizable.Greg Oman - 2015 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 61 (1-2):120-122.
It is well‐known that the theory of algebraically closed fields is not finitely axiomatizable. In this note, we prove that the theory of integrally closed integral domains is also not finitely axiomatizable.

    John Oman on feeling and theology.Adam Hood - 2013 - Religious Studies 49 (1):5-18.
This article revisits Oman's idea that an intuitive felt knowledge of the divine underlies the articulate knowledge found in faith and theology. Such feeling, Oman claims, is analogous to ordinary perception and gives rise to the attempt to evaluate, understand, and respond to the divine. Theology is the formalized attempt to respond to the intuition of the divine. The article argues that Oman's emphasis on the experiential and experimental character of theology is helpful, but that his analysis of the logic (...)

    Development and validation of an instrument to measure physician awareness of bioethics and medical law in Oman.Abdullah S. Al-Mujaini, Mohammed Al-Alawi, Nadiya S. Al-Kharousi, Nusaiba A. Al-Mawali, Maryam K. Al-Rawahi, Yahya M. Al-Farsi, Samir Al-Adawi, Anuradha Ganesh & Ahmed S. Al-Busaidi - 2021 - BMC Medical Ethics 22 (1):1-11.
BackgroundA different ethos with respect to the perception of medical ethics prevails in societies in transition such as those in the Arabian Peninsula, which makes it difficult to apply international principles of bioethics in medical practice. Additionally, it examined physician correlates influencing the awareness of bioethics.MethodsFollowing a rigorous review of relevant literature by (...)

Management Style and Decisions from the Perspective of Cultural Differences: A Study with Special Reference to the Sultanate of Oman.Adli Juwaidah & Ruksana Banu - 2009 - International Corporate Responsibility Series 4:267-288.
It is common today that organizations have their own distinctive cultures, even in cases when they may not have willfully attempted to create them. Rather, cultures have most likely been created unconsciously, forced by the values of top level managers, the founder, or core people who have built or direct the organization. Leaders frequently attempt to change the culture of their organizations to suit their own preferences. The resulting culture will influence the decision-making process, market demand, and nature of the (...)
