Karel Sládek, Nikolay Lossky and the Case for Mystical Intuition: Translated by Pavlina and Tim Morgan, Karolinum Press, Prague, 2020, Paperback, 158 p., 240 czk, ISBN 978-80-246-4570-4. [REVIEW]Frédéric Tremblay - 2021 - Studies in East European Thought 73 (1):117-120.
The book under review is a translation of a monograph written in Czech entitled Nikolaj Losskij: Obhájce mystické intuice, published in 2011. As a theologian, the author is above all interested in the spiritual and theological aspects of Lossky’s thought. The first two chapters are concerned with Lossky’s life and work before and during his years in Czechoslovakia. The third chapter is devoted to the analysis and interpretation of Lossky’s booklet Mystical Intuition published in English in 1938, wherein Lossky presents (...)

Analysis in Prior Analytics I.45.Igor Martinjak - 2022 - History and Philosophy of Logic 43 (3):207-231.
I reconstruct Aristotle’s analytical procedure in Prior Analytics I.45 and its metalogical implications. Aristotle’s analysis unfolds three groups of syllogisms: symmetrically analysable, asymmetrically analysable, and non-analysable syllogisms. From the first and the third group could be extracted 27 combinations of the two mutually non-derivable deductive rules. Aristotle’s reduced deductive system in APr. I.7 with the two moods in the first figure (traditionally called Barbara and Celarent) follows this pattern. I demonstrate that the deductive system with Barbara and Celarent is just (...)

A Duty to Rescue and Its Costs.Stanisław Wójtowicz, Łukasz Dominiak & Igor Wysocki - 2024 - Analiza I Egzystencja 65:91-124.

Ethical analysis of the first porcine cardiac xenotransplantation.Christopher Gyngell, Megan Munsie, Misao Fujita, Carrie Thiessen, Julian Savulescu & Igor E. Konstantinov - 2024 - Journal of Medical Ethics 50 (6):363-367.
In this article, we provide an ethical analysis of the first porcine cardiac xenotransplant, performed in Maryland, USA in early 2022. David Bennett was offered the experimental procedure after he was deemed ineligible for human heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, based on a history of non-compliance. It was reported that Mr Bennett’s previous instances of non-compliance were for medically non-life-threatening conditions years earlier, where the risks of non-compliance were not as high. We argue that, in Mr Bennett’s case, a (...)

Identification of regularities in the development of the baby economy as a component of the nanolevel of economy system.Tetiana Ostapenko, Igor Britchenko, Peter Lošonczi & Serhii Matveiev - 2022 - Eastern-European Journal of Enterprise Technologies 1 (13 (115)):92-102.
This study has proven that the economic system is determined by various components, in particular, it includes the real sector of the economy, which is formed on mega-, macro, meso-, micro-and nano-levels. In addition, it was proved that the nano-level is determined by the activities of individuals whose economic activity begins with the birth and attitude of parents, attending various educational and upbringing institutions, and studying at university. A separate segment of the nano-level of the economic system is the baby (...)

How the Non-Religious View the Personality of God in Relation to Themselves.Justin E. Lane & Igor Mikloušić - 2019 - Studia Humana 8 (3):39-57.
In this study we examined the applicability of personality measures to assessing God representations, and we explored how the overlap between personality judgments of self and God relate to strength of (dis)belief and closeness to God among atheists and agnostics. Using sample of 1,088 atheists/agnostics, we applied Goldberg’s Big Five bipolar markers as a standardized measure of personality dimensions, along with measures of identity fusion with God, belief strength, and sociosexuality, as this trait has been shown to be relevant in (...)

  26. Logic and Uncertainty in the Human Mind. A Tribute to David E. Over.I. Elqayam, Igor Douven, Jonathan Evans & N. Cruz (eds.) - forthcoming - Routledge.
David E. Over is a leading cognitive scientist and, with his firm grounding in philosophical logic, he also exerts a powerful influence on the psychology of reasoning. He is responsible for not only a large body of empirical work and accompanying theory, but for advancing a major shift in thinking about reasoning, commonly known as the ‘new paradigm’ in the psychology of human reasoning. -/- Over’s signature mix of philosophical logic and experimental psychology has inspired generations of researchers, psychologists, and (...)

  29. After Qbism, Contextual Quantum Realism (Response to C. Fuchs’s Question).Francois-Igor Pris - 2023 - ФИЛОСОФИЯ НАУКИ 3 (98):143-165.
In his recent paper, C. Fuchs formulates QBism in the form of eight postulates. We criticise QBism as an anti-realist position and propose an alternative – contextual quantum realism (QCR). 1. A quantum state is not “an agent’s personal judgement” (QBism), nor is it subjective (QBism), but objective (QCR). It describes not the current experience (QBism), but a state of a physical system in context (QCR). 2. A quantum measurement is a (literally) measurement of quantum reality (QCR), rather than an (...)

Everett’s interpretation, the many-worlds interpretation by D. Wallace, QBism by C. Fuchs, D. Mermin and R. Schack, the relational interpretation by C. Rovelli, neo-Kantian and phenomenological interpretations by M. Bitbol, the informational interpretation by A. Zeilinger, the Nobel Prize Winner in Physics 2022, and others.
