Propomos uma interpretação contextual para as operações aritméticas entre números transreais, discutimos o fato desses números terem nascido na computação e não na matemática e divagamos sobre a introdução dos novos números: infinito e nullity.

This report analyses the aplicability of the principles of consciousness developed in the ASys project to three of the most relevant cognitive architectures. This is done in relation to their aplicability to build integrated control systems and studying their support for general mechanisms of real-time consciousness. To analyse these architectures the ASys Framework is employed. This is a conceptual framework based on an extension for cognitive autonomous systems of the General Systems Theory (GST). A general qualitative evaluation criteria for cognitive (...) architectures is established based upon: a) requirements for a cognitive architecture, b) the theoretical framework based on the GST and c) core design principles for integrated cognitive conscious control systems. While the failure of the so-called classical theory of concepts - according to which definitions are the proper way to characterize concepts - is a consensus, metaphysical philosophy of religion still deals with the concept of God in a predominantly definitional way. It thus seems fair to ask: Does this failure imply that a definitional characterization of the concept of God is equally untenable? The first purpose of this paper is to answer this question. I focus on the representational side (...) of the matter. My goal is to analyze the extent to which the most important problems raised against the classical view of concepts affect a definitional-representational approach to the concept of God. The second purpose of the paper is to deepen into these issues, arguing for a pluralistic view of concepts and outlining a hybrid special theory of concepts, called the theory of ideal concepts. The theory is special because it deals with a special sort of concepts that I call ideal concepts; it is hybrid because, in addition to definitions, it uses another structure in the characterization of concepts: ideals. My goal is to argue that when applied to the concept of God and added to a pluralistic view of concepts, this theory can function as a tenable representational theory of the concept of God. (shrink)

This article intends to analyze the relations between Nietzsche’s concept of herd animal and Arendt’s concept of mass man. It will be highlighted the parallels between both philosophers concepts in an attempt to answer why Arendt doesn’t mention Nietzsche regarding this specific subject.

O tema do artigo são as representações de moldura e ekphrasis em A santa de Schöneberg, conto de Rubem Fonseca que tem como centro a vida e a obra do pintor EgonSchiele. O objetivo é verificar como tais procedimentos são realizados pelo narrador e de que maneira eles contribuem para o desenvolvimento da trama. Assim, tomamos como apoio teórico textos de estudiosos que tratam de moldura, da ekphrasis, da obra fonsequiana e de aspectos das narrativas breves, tais como Ortega y (...) En este artículo realizamos una reconstrucción del Programa original de Hilbert antes del surgimiento de los teoremas limitativos de la tercera década del siglo pasado. Para tal reconstrucción empezaremos por mostrar lo que Torretti llama los primeros titubeos formales de Hilbert, es decir, la defensa por el método axiomático como enfoque fundamentante. Seguidamente, mostraremos como estos titubeos formales se establecen como un verdadero programa de investigación lógico-matemático y como dentro de dicho programa la inquietud por la decidibilidad de los problemas (...) matemáticos y en específico la decidibilidad de la Lógica de primer orden cobra peso. Luego pasamos a analizar como la inquietud por la decibilidad toma lugar dentro del pensamiento filosófico-matemático de Hilbert presentándose como uno de los grandes problemas a los cuales la metamatemática debe encontrar una solución, esto lo hacemos mostrando un contraste con autores, como John von Neumann y Roberto Torretti, quienes de alguna u otra manera no interpretan el problema de la decidibilidad de la Lógica de primer orden como un problema de peso dentro del programa original de Hilbert. Finalmente argumentamos que el resultado meta-teórico de Church puede entenderse como una refutación del optimismo intelectual que permea a todo el programa original de Hilbert. (shrink)

Es ahora cuando es más urgente defender la importancia que la filosofía sigue teniendo en la vida diaria, demostrar a las personas el papel tan relevante que desempeña en sus vidas, que estén convencidos de que no es una materia prescindible en la actualidad, sino que ante los problemas que se (...) nos presentan, filosofar se hace cada vez más necesario.La presente investigación tiene como hipótesis que la filosofía es un saber esencial que el ser humano tiene que seguir cultivando a pesar de los cambios que la ciencia y la tecnología han traído a nuestra cotidianidad. In this paper I try to answer four basic questions: (1) How the concept of God is to be represented? (2) Are there any logical principles governing it? (3) If so, what kind of logic lies behind them? (4) Can there be a logic of the concept of God? I address them by presenting a formal-logical account to the concept of God. I take it as a methodological desideratum that this should be done within the simplest existing logical formalism. I (...) start with first-order logic (FOL) with identity, and then show that its simplest modal extension (SQML, or the simplest quantified modal logic) is enough for us to formalize a minimally satisfactory theory of the concept of God. Neste artigo apresenta-se a proposta de estudos humanísticos da informação, particularmente a partir das observações do filósofo holandês Harry Kunneman. Esse trabalho se inicia com a investigação e a discussão da noção hegemônica do que é Informação dentro da Ciência da Informação, vinculada a sua origem funcionalista. Nesta discussão cabe destacar na demarcação do conceito de informação a teoria matemática da comunicação e das teorias de sistemas. As limitações das abordagens funcionalistas da Informação tem como resposta a busca e o (...) desenvolvimento de teorias críticas. Discute a origem funcionalista do conceito de informação. Nas seções seguintes aborda os artigos de Kunneman, começando pelas perspectivas de uma abordagem humanista da Informação, com destaque aos modos de produção do conhecimento. O item a seguir trata sobre a profissionalização normativa visando o exercício das profissões privilegiando os valores humanísticos. A profissionalização normativa e seu caráter interdisciplinar se liga aos modos de produção do conhecimento. Conclui-se que há a necessidade de inserção dos conceitos abordados na pesquisa no dia a dia do profissional da informação, alinhando as preocupações éticas incorporadas às questões de vida. Addressing fatigue is useful in a variety of scenarios and activities. Fatigue has recently been studied from a psychophysiological standpoint. As a result, the expression and impact of peripheral and central fatigue has been evaluated. Driving is one occupation where tiredness has disastrous consequences. BAlert is a smartphone app that approaches exhaustion with psychophysiological measures. More specifically, it evaluates the level of fatigue via heart rate variability data and the cognitive compromise via Stroop effect. The goal of this study is (...) to determine if there are gender differences in fatigue levels among professional drivers using the BAlert app. Statistically significant differences were found in the number of hours awake, in different parameters of HRV, in the level of stress, as well as in the cognitive response evaluated through the app. The results are discussed and their implications for the management of work fatigue are presented. In the context of interspecies play involving humans, we find limitations when it comes to understanding most species. One reason for this may be the fact that we tend to anthropomorphize the other to be able to empathize with it. In light of this, how can we infer communication signs of other species so we are able to connect with the nonhuman world? We look for answers to this question by adopting a phenomenological approach that allows us to decentre from (...) the anthropocentric perspective. We highlight animal studies, especially those that extend to them the notion of play, and the studies on interspecies playful interaction conducted in the context of animal‐computer interaction. In addition, we propose considering empathy as an interspecies dialogical bridge with nonhumans. Finally, we argue about an expansion of the field of interaction design as an approach to the connection with the nonhuman world. (shrink)

RESUMEN Este artículo intenta mostrar cómo ciertas categorías del feminismo actual nos permiten "decolonizar" lo más propio del mundo griego, esto es, los dioses en general, y en especial el dios Diónysos. De esta manera, lo señalado por Nietzsche respecto del dios cobra un matiz más innovador y, a la vez, dionisíaco. Y, por ejemplo, podemos entender al dios Diónysos de mejor manera con la categoría de Queer. Esa categoría nos visibiliza cómo el dios opera performativamente, y en ello lo (...) que está en juego es cómo entendemos el cuerpo, y en definitiva, lo humano articulado con las cosas. ABSTRACT This article tries to show how certain categories of current feminism allow us to "decolonize" what is most characteristic of the Greek world, that is, the gods, in general; and, especially, the god Diónysos. In this way, what Nietzsche pointed out about the god takes on a more innovative and, at the same time, Dionysian nuance. And, for example, the god Diónysos would be better understood if categorized as Queer. That category makes visible the way the god operates performatively, and what is at stake here is how we understand the body; and, ultimately, the human, as articulated with things. (shrink)

El presente artículo busca dar con la influencia de Baruch Spinoza en el pensamiento de Xavier Zubiri en torno al tema de la materia y de allí entender lo que es lo estético. Es sabido que Zubiri desde joven fue un gran lector de Spinoza; incluso lo enseñaba en detalle a su amiga-estudiante María Zambrano. Y lo que pensamos es que Zubiri siempre estuvo influenciado por el pensador holandés y esto se ve reflejado en cómo Zubiri trata su concepto de (...) materia, clave en su obra; y tal concepto nos permite, por ejemplo, entender lo estético en el pensador español. The ´, or world's con flagration, followed by the restoration of an identical world seems to go against the rationality of the Stoic god. The aim of this paper is to show that Cleanthes, the second head of the School, can avoid this paradox. According to Cleanthes, the con flagration is an inevitable side-effect of the necessary means used by god to sustain the world. Given that this side-effect is contrary to god's sustaining activity, but unavoidable, god's rationality requires the (...) restoration of an identical world once the con flagration subsides. The paper also deals with the relation between Cleanthes and other early Stoics on the topic of con flagration. In particular, Cleanthes' position seems to diff er from Chrysippus'. For in contrast with the Cleanthean god, who causes the con flagration as a side-effect only, the Chrysippean god, according to an in fluential interpretation put forward by Jaap Mansfeld, causes the con flagration as his ultimate cosmological goal. A questão sobre Deus em Aristóteles aparece na teoria sobre o primeiro motor imóvel, demonstrada no livro XII da Metafísica. Tudo o que se move é movido por outro. Entende Aristóteles que no universo há uma série indeterminada de motores e movidos. Todos os movimentos têm uma causa anterior. Mas, não é possível regredir ao infinito, pois todos e cada um sempre dependeriam de outro. Por esta razão, conclui o Estagirita que é necessário que exista um primeiro motor imóvel que (...) não seja movido por nenhum outro. Ora, se não existisse um primeiro motor absoluto, seria impossível o movimento gerado nos outros motores que compõem o universo. Neste estudo sobre a teoria aristotélica, que se tornou tradicional na teodiceia, apresentamos determinados passos da Metafísica com o auxílio de alguns comentadores sem, contudo, entrar em aporias importantes que o texto aristotélico vem suscitando entre os pesquisadores. The use of new paradigms of false belief tasks (FBT) allowed to reduce the age of children who pass the test from the previous 4 years in the standard version to only 15 months or even a striking 6 months in the nonverbal modification. These results are often taken as evidence that infants already possess an—at least implicit—theory of mind (ToM). We criticize this inferential leap on the grounds that inferring a ToM from the predictive success on a false belief (...) task requires to assume as premise that a belief reasoning is a necessary condition for correct action prediction. It is argued that the FBT does not satisfactorily constrain the predictive means, leaving room for the use of belief-independent inferences (that can rely on the attribution of non-representational mental states or the consideration of behavioral patterns that dispense any reference to other minds). These heuristics, when applied to the FBT, can achieve the same predictive success of a belief-based inference because information provided by the test stimulus allows the recognition of particular situations that can be subsumed by their ‘laws’. Instead of solving this issue by designing a single experimentum crucis that would render unfeasible the use of non-representational inferences, we suggest the application of a set of tests in which, although individually they can support inferences dissociated from a ToM, only an inference that makes use of false beliefs is able to correctly predict all the outcomes. Our objective is not to show any new interpretation or thesis about logicism or its rebirth between the 60s and 80s of the last century. What we will do is systematically show the evolution of logicism from Frege to Russell-Whitehead, with greater emphasis on this latest development, and approach some problems that arise within that movement, for example: The logical paradoxes and the principle of intuitive comprehension, the impredicative (...) definitions and the semantic paradoxes, the Ramified Hierarchy and real numbers, the axiom of reducibility and the impossibility of reducing mathematics to logic, etc. (shrink)

COM BASE NA TESE DE QUE DEVEMOS ENTENDER A “DEMOCRACIA RADICAL” COMO O NÚCLEO NORMATIVO DE SOCIEDADES EMANCIPADAS, O ARTIGO EXPÕE A CRÍTICA DE HABERMAS AO PARADIGMA “PRODUTIVISTA” COMO ORIENTAÇÃO EMANCIPATÓRIA DA ESQUERDA.

O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o conceito de yoga da Bhagavad-gītā. Cinco concepções de yoga encontradas no texto são descritas: yoga enquanto disciplina ou prática, yoga enquanto disciplina qualificada, yoga enquanto estado mental de equanimidade e renúncia, yoga enquanto estado de união e yoga enquanto poder místico. As relações existentes entre essas concepções são explicitadas e o que podemos chamar de a estrutura do yoga na Bhagavad-gītā é pormenorizada.

In this article we will argue that given certain conditions for the evolution of bi- ological controllers, these will necessarily evolve in the direction of incorporating consciousness capabilities. We will also see what are the necessary mechanics for the provision of these capabilities and extrapolate this vision to the world of artifi- cial systems postulating seven design principles for conscious systems. A comienzos del siglo XXI, América del Sur alberga la mayor biodiversidad del mundo para la mayoría de los grupos de plantas y animales, como también una variedad de movimientos en defensa del medio ambiente, que incluyen comunidades urbanas y rurales. La filosofía académica sudamericana, sin embargo, ha prestado escasa atención a este rico contexto biocultural. Para nutrir una filosofía ambiental regional emergente, identifico tres fuentes principales. Primero, una variedad de cosmovisiones y prácticas ecológicas, ancestrales y contemporáneas ofrecen un rico (...) espectro biocultural de pensamiento ambiental de América del Sur que puede ser examinado y valorado a través del trabajo de la antropología cultural, la filosofía de la liberación, la pedagogía de la liberación, la teología de la liberación, el ecofeminismo y la conservación biocultural. En segundo lugar, en las universidades de América del Sur se han formado recientemente algunos grupos interdisciplinarios académicos en la investigación y enseñanza de la filosofía ambiental, con el apoyo del Programa de las Naciones Unidas del Medio Ambiente, o gracias a los intereses individuales de algunos investigadores. En tercer lugar, expresiones artisticas y movimientos sociales han demandado cada vez más la incorporación de valores ambientales en las políticas regionales y en los procesos de toma de decisiones. Estas tres fuentes pueden fomentar el diálogo intercultural, internacional y transdisciplinario para seguir desarrollando una filosofía ambiental sudamericana que brote desde su extraordinaria diversidad biocultural. The terms “model” and “model-building” have been used to characterize the field of formal philosophy, to evaluate philosophy’s and philosophical logic’s progress and to define philosophical logic itself. A model is an idealization, in the sense of being a deliberate simplification of something relatively complex in which several important aspects are left aside, but also in the sense of being a view too perfect or excellent, not found in reality, of this thing. Paraconsistent logic is a branch of philosophical logic. (...) It is however not clear how paraconsistent logic can be seen as model-building. What exactly is modeled? In this paper I adopt the perspective of looking at a particular instance of paraconsistent logic—paranormal modal logic—which might be seen as a model of a specific kind of agent: inductive agents. After ntroducing what I call the highlevel and low-level models of inductive agents, I analyze the extent to which the above-mentioned idealizing features of model-building appear in paranormal modal logic and how they affect its philosophical significance. O artigo faz uma reflexão crítica dos impactos da pandemia para as crianças da Educação Infantil no Brasil. Delineia algumas concepções de criança e infância nos discursos normativos, apontando possibilidades que valorizem a experiência infantil.

Este artigo recorda os principais aspectos e motivações da Expedição Langsdorff, missão de reconhecimento do interior do Brasil iniciada em 1821, composta pelo cônsul russo barão Langsdorff, o pintor alemão Moritz Rugendas, Aimé-Adrien Taunay, Nicolas-Antoine Taunay, o polígrafo Hercules Florence e o especialista em mapas Néster G. Rubtsov. Busca diferenças entre esta expedição e iniciativas outras, a título de exemplo, as dos bandeirantes e jesuítas, bem como a expedição indigenista de Rondon, e propõe o aprofundamento das investiga­ções. Apresenta atributos resgatados (...) pela poesia brasileira contemporânea e elementos cons­titutivos da identidade cultural brasileira presentes na Expedição Langsdorff, os quais os auto­res sugerem ser relevantes para pesquisadores do tema e para a inserção do Brasil no contexto internacional político, diplomático e econômico nos tempos hodiernos. Objetiva identificar e analisar as categorias teórico-metodológicas em que se situam os estudos sobre Análise de Domínio publicados na Base Lisa )Library and Information Science Abstracts) tendo em vista o desenvolvimento do assunto. Justifica-se pela relevância da incorporação de contribuições interdisciplinares a partir de marcos epistemológicos bem delimitados em vista da polissemia e idiossincrasia dos termo “análise” e “domínio. A busca recuperou 80 artigos, dos quais 50 demonstraram aderência ao estudo. Concluiu-se que embora a análise do domínio seja uma proposta (...) característica do paradigma social da Ciência da Informação, sua aplicação preserva perfis mais tradicionais. (shrink)

O presente artigo pretende discorrer acerca do papel da linguagem, enquanto fenômeno ontológico, na hermenêutica filosófica promovida por Hans-Georg Gadamer. A temática é proposta a partir da discussão sobre em que medida a linguagem encontra-se conectada com a tradição, o questionamento que movimenta a intenção da pesquisa é conduzido com a intenção de reconhecer a correspondência entre linguagem e tradição. Deste modo, visa-se apresentar no âmbito da experiência hermenêutica a ligação entre os conceitos de linguagem e tradição que resulta no (...) acontecer de uma verdade compreensiva. A partir da obra Verdade e Método (1960) a presente investigação abarca a concepção do autor no que tange o conceito da verdade como resultado do processo compreensivo e, o coloca em movimento ao não ser mais diretamente conectado ao âmbito científico. A verdade encontra-se, portanto, vinculada à linguagem, onde ganha novos horizontes. (shrink)

Neste artigo mostram-se os resultados de uma revisão sistemática com busca em três bases de dados sobre a teoria do agir comunicativo do filósofo alemão Jurgen Habermas na área da Administração de Organizações de Saúde. Quer-se destacar as relações estabelecidas entre a filosofia da linguagem, particularmente da Teoria do agir comunicativo, e a Administração de Organizações de Saúde, tanto para construção em acordos teóricos quanto acordos práticos. Foram consultadas três bases de dados (Scopus, Web of Science e Medline via Pubmed). (...) A partir da aplicação das estratégias foram recuperados 178 registros. Após o filtro em função dos objetivos da pesquisa e da exclusão dos artigos em duplicatas, restaram 42 artigos, mas somente 41 artigos completos são considerados na síntese qualitativa. Os artigos recuperados estão classificados em oito categorias, e foram publicados. (shrink)
