The aim of my paper is to highlight the issues at stake in Nancy’s assertion according to which ‘‘there is no ‘(final) Sense of sense’ in any of the senses of ‘sense’”. To this end, I examine his acknowledgement of the complete drying up of the regime of sense that has sustained the history of the West, and I show how his deconstruction unburdens “the sense of the world” from principles, reasons and ends, in order to think the fundamental incompletness (...) of a sense that shelters the singular-plural unfolding of existence and that cannot be appropriated, since it sends itself, sends back itself, and circulates without ever being settled. En la primera parte de esta contribución la establece los marcos del jorizone de evidencia de toda metafísica en tanto tesis del ver-saber, para enseguida reconstruir la crítica-denuncia wittgensteiniana de dicha argumentación en sus hilos conductores: la hipótesis del ojo mental, sólo pudiendo ser el objeto verdadero de la visión un objeto privado, y su corolario incuestionado en la idea del lenguaje privado, idea que debe ser suprimida al igual que la del ojo del alma por ser ilusoria. La critica (...) wittgensteiniana es presentada como la denuncia de la concepción del vínculo entre el pensamiento seña una forma de ver. En la segunda parte del artículo, la A. examina el análisis wittgensteiniano de las "vivencias de aspecto", tema fundamental de la sección xi de 1 segunda parte de las Investigaciones filosóficas. Por un lado, demuestra que la vivencia se articula como significativa desde la expresividad del lenguaje, no siendo esta última un mero "exterior" constituido desde el interior", y, por otro lado, demuestra que el ego "expresivo" no es jamás prisionero de la lengua de la que surge sino que es, por el contrario, fundamentalmente creativo. In the following text, medical, anthropological and ethical issues of deep brain stimulation, a medical technology in which electrodes implanted in the human brain electrically influence specified brain regions, will be discussed. After a brief account of the deep brain stimulation procedure and its chances and risks, anthropological and ethical aspects of the approach will be discussed. These relate to the reversibility of the procedure and to the patient’s capacity to control the effects it exerts in the brain, to modifications (...) and fluctuations in a person’s character traits and individuality brought about by neurostimulation, and to the range of legitimate, adequate uses of the deep brain stimulation approach. The paper concludes that deep brain stimulation should be confined to therapeutic contexts and to severe, otherwise treatment-refractory disorders in which the aim is to normalize brain functioning. Apart from this, it should not be used to modify a person’s individual character traits and behaviour or to enhance human traits. (shrink)

In the context of a broad welcome to Bullot & Reber's (B&R's) proposals concerning the incorporation of contextual awareness into the study of the psychology of art appreciation, I raise two concerns. First, the proposal makes no allowance for degrees of relevance of contextual awareness to appreciation. Second, the authors assume that and can be maintained as separate phases or modes, but this may be more problematic than anticipated.
