Two related studies focused on the effects that a questionable supervisory conduct has on the endorsement and vulnerability of the supervisor, as well as on judgments of supervisory morality. Male and female undergraduate and graduate business students were asked to read the account of a personnel manager who violates employee confidentiality concerning certain personality test results, but who has had a previous record of increasing or decreasing productivity. We report the identification of a recurrent, 520-kb 16p12.1 microdeletion associated with childhood developmental delay. The microdeletion was detected in 20 of 11,873 cases compared with 2 of 8,540 controls and replicated in a second series of 22 of 9,254 cases compared with 6 of 6,299 controls. Most deletions were inherited, with carrier parents likely to manifest neuropsychiatric phenotypes compared to non-carrier parents. Probands were more likely to carry an additional large copy-number variant when compared to matched controls. The clinical (...) features of individuals with two mutations were distinct from and/or more severe than those of individuals carrying only the co-occurring mutation. Our data support a two-hit model in which the 16p12.1 microdeletion both predisposes to neuropsychiatric phenotypes as a single event and exacerbates neurodevelopmental phenotypes in association with other large deletions or duplications. Analysis of other microdeletions with variable expressivity indicates that this two-hit model might be more generally applicable to neuropsychiatric disease. © 2010 Nature America, Inc. Dans les sociétés pluralistes, qui n'ont pas en commun un ensemble de valeurs éthiques, sociales et politiques, l'interprétation juridique est sous tension permanente. Les interprétations justes - c'est-à-dire les interprétations qui reflètent une conception partagée de la justice - peuvent être juste des interprétations ; autrement dit, des interprétations qui correspondent seulement aux aspirations et aux intérêts de différents groupes sociaux. Dans ce livre, Michel Rosenfeld s'affronte à cette crise de l'interprétation juridique. Il présente une évaluation critique des principaux (...) courants de la théorie du droit contemporaine aux Etats-Unis et en France et propose une approche différente. L'analyse de Michel Rosenfeld porte aussi bien sur le néo-formalisme, le pragmatisme, la théorie du discours, que la théorie autopoiétique. Elle comporte un examen des thèses des principaux auteurs et notamment de Habermas, Rorty, Posner, Luhmann, Dworkin, Fish et Weinrib. Pour remédier à certaines insuffisances de ces thèses, à propose la théorie du pluralisme compréhensif, fondée sur une conception matérielle du pluralisme. Cette approche transforme le fait du pluralisme en un principe normatif. A partir des intuitions de la déconstruction, il répond à cet appel de Derrida, auquel on n'a pas prêté une attention suffisante, à un engagement à combler la distance entre soi et l'autre, sans sacrifice de l'un ou de l'autre. Michel Rosenfeld montre que la théorie du pluralisme compréhensif permet de surmonter les limitations du libéralisme, du républicanisme et du communautarisme, tout en évitant les apories du monisme et du relativisme. They say that, as an implication of the equivalence of the inertial and passive gravitational masses of the test body, the metric cannot be attributed to an operator that is defined in the frame of a local canonical quantum field theory. This is true for any theory containing a metric, independently of the geometric framework under consideration and the way one introduces the metric in it. Thus, (...) to establish a local quantum field theory of gravity one has to transit to non-Riemann geometry that contains (beside or instead of the metric) other geometric quantities. From this view, we discuss a Riemann–Cartan and an affine model of gravity and show them to be promising candidates of a theory of canonical quantum gravity. (shrink)

Prispevek predstavi sklop evholoških besedil na čast svetemu Hieronimu: od prvih omemb v Gelazijevem zakramentarju do prenovljenega rimskega misala Pavla vi. Orisan je potek kompozicije temeljnih zakramentarjev in misalov rimskega obreda, ki so vir, iz katerega se je bogato razširil obstoječ misal. Predstavljeni so vidiki, ki bi jih za zvest prenos misli, izraženih v latinski evhologiji, v drug jezik, lahko upoštevali. Razširjeni konteksti umeščenega besedila namreč v bogoslužju omogočajo liturgičnemu besedilu, da lahko postane učinkovit dogodek vere. Njihovo neupoštevanje pa učinkovitost (...) besedila omejuje. Zaradi pretežno filološke metode prevedeno evhološko besedilo uporabnika lahko doseže šele s katehezo, homilijo ali komentarjem. Tak pristop je neprimerljivo hitrejši in zaradi še neizdelanih študij za vsak posamezni formular se ohranja vtis, da je zahtevni proces inkulturacije rimskega obreda nujno potrebno centralno nadzorovati. Predstavljena so tudi obvezujoča navodila, s katerimi Cerkev že desetletja usmerja prevajanje in iz katerih postaja še bolj očitna teža in preroškost odločitev, ki jih je v korist vernikov naredila na drugem vatikanskem koncilu. Written by a non-Jewish analytic philosopher, this book addresses the issue of whether, and to what extent, current opposition to Israel on the liberal-left embodies anti-Semitic stances. It argues that the dominant climate of liberal opinion disseminates, however inadvertently, a range of anti-Semitic assertions and motifs of the most traditional kind. It advocates a return to an unrestricted anti-racism which would allow liberals to defend Palestinian interests without demonizing Jews.
