The Theory of Practice and Action in Paul of Worczyn’s Thought.Magdalena Płotka - 2021 - Revista Española de Filosofía Medieval 27 (2):43-58.
The article presents Paul’s of Worczyn theory of action. The article is divided into three parts: in the first one, Paul’s theory of action as a movement is presented. The second part concentrates on twofold division of action, practicaand praxis. The third part clarifies the problem of the principle of action. The article ends with a conclusion that Paul’s theoretical solutions within the theory of action are consistent with his anthropological stance accentuating the unity of the soul and its powers.

Augustyn, Piotr Lombard, Bonawentura o "usus" i "fruitio".Magdalena Płotka - 2019 - Studia Philosophiae Christianae 55 (3):5-32.
Artykuł omawia historyczny rozwój koncepcji radości w filozofii i teologii średniowiecznej. Wreszcie, artykuł argumentuje, że dzieje radości w okresie 395–druga połowa XIII wieku to dzieje coraz większego docenienia radości i dostrzeżenia jej właściwego znaczenia w życiu człowieka.

Jakich przyjemności będzie doświadczał człowiek zbawiony? Stanowisko św. Tomasza z Akwinu.Magdalena Płotka - 2022 - Studia Philosophiae Christianae 58 (2):31-51.
Niniejszy artykuł dotyczy przyjemności osób zbawionych, czyli przyjemności (zmysłowych i cielesnych), jakich zbawiony będzie doświadczał w stanie visio beatifica.

Permissive natural law and its scope in Paul vladimiri’s philosophy.Magdalena Płotka - 2020 - Studia Philosophiae Christianae 56 (S1):7-24.
The purpose of this article is to a%empt to provide a more precise answer to the question of Paul Vladimiri’s account of the concept of permissive natural law. This purpose is realized in two steps. First, a brief history of permissive natural laws in the tradition of medieval philosophy is discussed, and the historical context, in which Paul Vladimiri developed his theory of natural law, is outlined. Next, some excerpts from Vladimir’s writings are analysed, in which he uses phrases indicating (...)

Wraz z polskim przekładem wystąpienia Michaela Walzera – gościa specjalnego konferencji – stanowią one próbkę rozważań dotyczących zaledwie kilku aspektów niezwykle rozległej problematyki łączącej się z teorią wojny sprawiedliwej. From psychology to phenomenology : A controversy over the method in the school of Twardowski.Witold Płotka - 2019 - Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences 19 (1):141-167.
This paper seeks to define the main trends, arguments and problems regarding the question of method formulated by Twardowski and his students. In this regard, the aim of the paper is twofold. First, I situate Brentano’s project of descriptive psychology within the context of disputes in the school of Twardowski concerning the method of both psychology and phenomenology, arguing that descriptive-psychological analysis was dominant in this respect. Second, the study explores the notion of eidetic phenomenology, as founded on a methodological (...)

    Husserlian Phenomenology as Questioning.Witold Płotka - 2012 - Studia Phaenomenologica 12:311-329.
The article presents the transcendental reduction as a type of questioning, and by so doing formulates the problem of the structure and motivation of reduction. Transcendental questioning is presented as a permanent formulation and reformulation of questions, which, it is argued, make it possible to overcome the naïveté of the natural attitude. However, the phenomenologist does not overcome naïveté in the sense of excluding it; instead, he is conscious of it. It is argued that one should understand transcendental questioning as (...)

This book presents the origins of Central and Eastern European phenomenology. It features chapters that explore the movement's development, its most important thinkers, and its theoretical and historical context. This collection examines such topics as the realism-idealism controversy, the status of descriptive psychology, the question of the phenomenological method, and the problem of the world. The chapters span the first decades of the development of phenomenology in Czechoslovakia, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Yugoslavia before World War II. The contributors track the (...)

Approaching the Variety of Lived Experiences: On the Psychological Motives in Leopold Blaustein’s Method.Witold Płotka - 2020 - Gestalt Theory 42 (2):181-194.
Summary The article explores psychological motives in Leopold Blaustein’s philosophy. Blaustein was educated in Lvov, Freiburg im Breisgau and Berlin. In his original explorations, he attempted to connect a phenomenological perspective with descriptive psychology. As trained by Twardowski, he took over some motives of understanding the method of philosophy (psychology), its objectives and aims. The author situates Blaustein also in a dialogue with Stumpf and next to the context of Dilthey’s humanistic psychology is examined. Finally, the article explores the influences (...)

Psychologia opisowa na nowo odczytana? Szkic o metodzie w filozofii Leopolda Blausteina.Witold Płotka - 2020 - Studia Philosophica Wratislaviensia 15 (1):71-91.
The main purpose of the article is to define the framework in which one can situate Leopold Blaustein’s philosophy. The author focuses on the question of the method which is used by Blaustein and he situates it in the historical-philosophical context. The article defends the thesis that Blaustein uses a method which can be labelled as a phenomenologically oriented descriptive psychology that is close to, though not identical with, Edmund Husserl’s project as formulated in the first edition of his Logical (...)

Reduction and the Question of Beginnings in Husserl, Fink and Patočka.Witold Płotka - 2018 - Human Studies 41 (4):603-621.
The article is an attempt to define reduction as the beginning of philosophy. The author considers such questions as: What motivates a phenomenologist to do reduction? Can one speak of philosophy before reduction? What is the essence of reduction? To answer these questions the author refers to Husserl, Fink and, Patočka, and tries to show that reduction is to be understood as an unmotivated expression of philosopher’s will to overcome evidence inherent to natural attitude. The author argues that reduction enables (...)

Knowledge, behaviour, and policy: questioning the epistemic presuppositions of applying behavioural science in public policymaking.Magdalena Małecka - 2021 - Synthese 199 (1-2):5311-5338.
The aim of this article is to question the epistemic presuppositions of applying behavioural science in public policymaking. Philosophers of science who have examined the recent applications of the behavioural sciences to policy have contributed to discussions on causation, evidence, and randomised controlled trials. These have focused on epistemological and methodological questions about the reliability of scientific evidence and the conditions under which we can predict that a policy informed by behavioural research will achieve the policymakers’ goals. This paper argues (...)

    Filozofia życia Lina Yutanga.Magdalena Filipczuk - 2023 - Rocznik Filozoficzny Ignatianum 29 (1):235-260.
The Dialectic of Formalization.Magdalena Germek - 2021 - Filozofski Vestnik 42 (1).
This article discusses the philosophy of Alain Badiou from the perspective of a formulation that we believe represents it succinctly: the dialectic of formalization. The main thesis of the article is that Badiou’s doctrine of the four truth procedures can be understood as a doctrine of a dialectical realization of new and universal forms in the world. The dialectic of formalization announces a double procedure – an autonomous and creative procedure for the production of a new true form in the (...)

New Technologies in International Arbitration: A Game-Changer in Dispute Resolution?Magdalena Łągiewska - 2024 - International Journal for the Semiotics of Law - Revue Internationale de Sémiotique Juridique 37 (3):851-864.
International dispute resolution in general and international arbitration, in particular, is highly affected by the emergence and fast development of innovation-driven technologies. On the one hand, such technologies are cost and time-effective. To name a few, they allow online filing of a case, collecting of e-evidence and remote hearings, among others. On the other hand, they also may lead to some challenges that need to be addressed. The primary concerns comprise e-arbitration agreements and e-awards, as well as cybersecurity and data (...)

Case, agreement, and A-movement dependencies across finite clause boundaries, such as Hyperraising or Long-Distance Case or Agreement [LDA], are available in many typologically diverse languages. The research on such dependencies typically distinguishes between cross-linguistically restricted true A-dependencies across finite clauses, and generally available binding-like A′-dependencies as found in Prolepsis. In this paper, we investigate both types of configurations in parallel and refer to this as the A-domain. Since the diagnostics to distinguish A-configurations vary across languages and often cannot be compared (...)

    Dialogue Protocols for Formal Fallacies.Magdalena Kacprzak & Olena Yaskorska - 2014 - Argumentation 28 (3):349-369.
This paper presents a dialogue system called Lorenzen–Hamblin Natural Dialogue (LHND), in which participants can commit formal fallacies and have a method of both identifying and withdrawing formal fallacies. It therefore provides a tool for the dialectical evaluation of force of argument when players advance reasons which are deductively incorrect. The system is inspired by Hamblin’s formal dialectic and Lorenzen’s dialogical logic. It offers uniform protocols for Hamblin’s and Lorenzen’s dialogues and adds a protocol for embedding them. This unification required (...)

In the present article, we have demonstrated that it is important to understand the equating of mathematics with ontology in Badiou’s philosophy, taking into account the necessary connection between rational materialism and ontological realism. Only in this way can we truly understand Badiou’s fundamental thesis that thinking and being are the same. Philosophy is not ontology and it is not a true procedure, but a thought that arises by being conditioned with the generic thoughts of all four truth procedures (art, (...)

Phenomenology is one of the main currents of modern philosophy. Philosophers most often understand it from the perspective of Edmund Husserl’s (1859–1938) phenomenology as a concept of cognition and a method of viewing and describing what is directly given, i.e. a phenomenon. In addition, phenomenology is the fundamental science – prima philosophia that determines what and how is directly given. Roman Ingarden (1893–1970), a student of E. Husserl, was the first thinker in Poland who practiced philosophy in a phenomenological way. (...)

We conducted a scoping review to assess the extent to which five ethical themes were addressed in existing literature about electives, with the aim of investigating the ethical impacts of medical student electives on local resources, patients and clinicians in LMICs.
