La publication au printemps 2005 d'un livre au titre provocateur, Heidegger/l'introduction du nazisme dans la philosophie, n'aurait guère suscité, chez tous ceux qui connaissent quelque peu la pensée du philosophe, d'autre réaction que le silence si l'ouvrage en question, grâce à une campagne soigneusement orchestrée, n'avait été salué par les médias dominants comme un travail sérieux et objectif. C'est la raison pour laquelle il s'imposait de montrer publiquement à quel point la tentative de porter si gravement atteinte à une pensée (...) considérable n'a été possible qu'en contrevenant aux principes auxquels doit se plier tout travail philosophique digne de ce nom. Heidegger, à plus forte raison se comprend donc d'abord comme une réplique. Ses auteurs prouvent, pièces en main et en observant scrupuleusement les règles strictes de la critique, que la thèse scandaleuse se réduit en réalité à un tissu d'approximations, d'erreurs, de contresens dont le ressort ultime est ce type d'incompréhension que provoque une malveillance compulsive. Compte tenu du soutien médiatique apporté à une accusation aussi extrême, il était indispensable que cette mise au point fût faite. Mais il reste l'essentiel, qui est d'exposer positivement l'importance du travail de pensée que Heidegger nous a laissé à poursuivre. Car cette pensée, n'en déplaise à ses contempteurs, est probablement, encore à ce jour, l'une des seules capables de nous permettre de faire face à un nihilisme dont le déferlement est loin d'avoir pris fin avec l'effondrement du nazisme en 1945. Following Aristotle’s description of youth and brief discussion about indoctrination and parrhesia, the article historicizes Socrates’ trial as the intersection of philosophy, education and a teacher’s influence on youth. It explores the historic-political context and how contemporary Athenians might have viewed Socrates and his student’s actions, whereby his teachings were implicated in three coups led by his former students against Athenian democracy, for or which he accepted little or no responsibility. Socrates appears subversively anti-democratic. This provides grounds that challenge the (...) dominant and standard philosophical account of Socrates as one of the great teachers, perhaps the greatest in the Western tradition, and critiques the way philosophy so often presents a de-contextualized and ahistorical picture. Concerns about the influence of education, teachers and indoctrination on youth have existed since ancient times. Currently, many states, especially, but not only, democracies, are concerned about Islamic fundamentalist teachings potentially leading to terrorism. The article presents contemporary exemplars from four countries: Austria, Kenya, the UK and Saudi Arabia. The crucial question remains: to what extent is it reasonable to hold a teacher responsible for a student’s subsequent actions? (shrink)

O.T. 463 sq.BRUHN followed Zielinski in adopting είδε from F, and used the variant together with others as establishing the value of Fas an independent source. We have already seen reason for refusing to attach much importance to the authority of this MS. , but it should be observed that both readings are recognized by Σ, and the question between επε and είδε must be settled on its merits. Γ itself has πε written over the last syllable of είδε, and (...) Zenodotus read επ for εδ in Hom. O 207. Zielinski thinks that Eur. Andr. 998 τελουμένων δ Δελς εσεται πέτρα is an echo of this passage, but the inference is by no means certain. It may be that the original text of Trin points to the true solution, that πε fell out by haplography, and the isolated ε became εσε or δε. (shrink)
