The bibliography covers the years from january 1916 through february 1976. it lists, in philosophy, 14 books written or co-authored by charles hartshorne, six peirce volumes edited, with paul weiss, and 358 papers published in journals (approximately 100 different journals), symposia, anthologies, and "festschriften", including approximately 100 book reviews. in ornithology it includes one book and 12 papers published in ten different journals. the total number of items is 384.

Festschriften may have gone out of style, but not out of print. The desire to pay tribute to an important thinker remains strong and no one has found a more suitable vehicle. Hence the present volume in honor of Max Fisch, who retired recently from the University of Illinois after a long and distinguished career in the academic world, which began in 1926. The volume consists of fourteen essays by former graduate students of Fisch, as well as two short (...) pieces by Fisch himself, a biographical sketch by Max Harold Fisch, a preface by D. W. Gotshalk, a chronological bibliography of Fisch's writings, and a list of theses directed by Fisch from 1947 to 1968 at the University of Illinois. The essays cover such diverse philosophers as Aristotle, Hartshorne, Merleau-Ponty, Agassiz, Harvey, Hegel, and Peirce and range from subjects like Freedom and the Justification of Morality to Logic, Frequency Theory of Probability, Language and the Self--and even beyond, to subjects such as The Origin of the Species and a Taoist Treatise on the Nourishment of Life. Curiously, despite Fisch's pioneer work in bringing Vico to the attention of American readers, none of the essays center on Vichian thought; nor do any of the theses listed in the back of the book take Vico as the subject of the dissertation.--H. Published as one of the issues of the quarterly periodical Continuum, this is one of those rare Festschriften which is given over to the Schriften of the man whose Fest it is. In this way, the essays represents the solidest, first-hand coming to grips with the systematic and expansive thought of a first-rate philosopher and theologian. Of particular interest is the contribution by E. M. McKinnon, "Cognitional Analysis and the Philosophy of Science," in which Lonergan's philosophy of science is (...) shown to have deep affinities with the Scientific Realism espoused by many contemporary analytical philosophers. Lonergan himself provides a whirlwind and breathtaking synoptic review of his past work in the final essay of the volume, in which he begins à la Hegel in sense certainty and ends with authentic human existence as the integration of objective knowing and dynamic intersubjectivity. To explore this topic, we present Part 3 of a four-part bibliography of neuroethics’ literature focusing on the “ethics of neuroscience.”MethodsTo complete a systematic survey of the neuroethics literature, 19 databases and 4 individual open-access journals were employed. Searches were conducted using the indexing language of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
