    Morality andin vitro fertilization.Raymond A. Belliotti - 1980 - Journal of Medical Humanities 2 (1):6-19.
The question of the morality ofin vitro fertilization is examined. One of the central questions to be answered is whether the zygote loss that seems inseparable from the process is morally justified. Even when embryo transfer occurs, many zygotes which have been intentionally created are intentionally destroyed; they are used as means to the alleged benefits that others will attain.

  31. Toward a methodology for moral decision making in medicine.Thomasine Kushner, Raymond A. Belliotti & Donald Buckner - 1991 - Theoretical Medicine and Bioethics 12 (4).
The failure of medical codes to provide adequate guidance for physicians' moral dilemmas points to the fact that some rules of analysis, informed by moral theory, are needed to assist in resolving perplexing ethical problems occurring with increasing frequency as medical technology advances. Initially, deontological and teleological theories appear more helpful, but critcisms can be lodged against both, and neither proves to be sufficient in itself. This paper suggests that to elude the limitations of previous approaches, a method of moral (...)

    Willful Liberalism. [REVIEW]Raymond A. Belliotti - 1993 - Review of Metaphysics 46 (3):611-612.
The author argues for a refined understanding of the proper roles of voluntarism, individuality, and plurality in liberal political theory. Animated by the conviction that contemporary debates between liberals and communitarians are truncated artificially, Flathman aspires to transcend the false polarities of atomism versus holism.

Is Human Life Absurd? A Philosophical Inquiry into Finitude, Value, and Meaning.Raymond Angelo Belliotti - 2019 - Leiden ; Boston: Brill | Rodopi.
Belliotti unravels the paradoxes of human existence to reveal paths for crafting meaningful, significant, valuable, even important lives. He argues that human life is not inherently absurd; examines the implications of mortality; contrasts subjective and objective meaning, and evaluates contemporary renderings of meaningful human lives.

What is the Meaning of Human Life?Raymond Angelo Belliotti (ed.) - 2001 - BRILL.
This book examines core concerns of human life. What is the relationship between a meaningful life and theism? Why are some human beings radically adrift, without radical foundations, and struggling with hopelessness? Is the cosmos meaningless? Is human life akin to the ancient Myth of Sisyphus? What is the role of struggle and suffering in creating meaning? How do we discover or create value? Is happiness overrated as a goal of life? How, if at all, can we learn to die (...)

Jesus or Nietzsche: How Should We Live Our Lives?Raymond Angelo Belliotti (ed.) - 2013 - New York: BRILL.
This book reconstructs the cornerstones of Jesus’s moral teachings about how to lead a good, even exemplary, human life. It does so in a way that is compatible with the most prominent, competing versions of the historical Jesus. The work also contrast Jesus’ understanding of the best way to lead our lives with that of Friedrich Nietzsche. Both Jesus and Nietzsche were self-consciously moral revolutionaries. Jesus refashioned the imperatives of Jewish law to conform to what he was firmly convinced was (...)
