The investigation presents a hermeneutics of memory in Nietzsche’s mature texts in the light of contributions of Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas. At the First Dissertation of Towards the Genealogy of Morals, Nietzsche introduces the influence that memory exerts on the capacity for reflection and action. The mnemotechnical procedure that the German philosopher analyzes is Thomas Aquinas’ commentary on Aristotle’s reminiscence. Aquinas identifies the ordering of what is wanted, the investment of the spirit, frequent meditation and the taking of the chain (...) of pending issues as fundamental points for the activity of memory. And, at these points, Nietzsche identifies morality as a key component in the memorization process. It will analyze some approximations and distances between the Nietzschean and Thomist theses and to what extent morality operates in the sense of detecting memory activity. (shrink)

Contracts play an important role in business management where relationships among different parties are dictated by legal rules. Electronic contracts have emerged mostly due to technological advances and electronic trading between companies and customers. New challenges have then arisen to guarantee reliability among the stakeholders in electronic negotiations. In this scenario, automatic verification of electronic contracts appeared as an imperative support, specially the conflict detection task of multi-party contracts. The problem of checking contracts has been largely addressed in the literature, (...) but there are few, if any, methods and practical tools that can deal with multi-party contracts using a contract language with deontic and dynamic aspects as well as relativizations, over the same formalism. In this work we present an automatic checker for finding conflicts on multi-party contracts modeled by an extended contract language with deontic operators and relativizations. Moreover a well-known case study of sales contract is modeled and automatically verified by our tool. Further, we performed practical experiments in order to evaluate the efficiency of our method and the practical tool. (shrink)

Uma das técnicas, pensadas por Nietzsche, para ativar a consciência moral é a técnica da memória, que o filósofo denomina mnemotécnica. Ora, submeter a memória a procedimentos com capacidade de predição e controle, equivale a despi-la daquilo que é sua característica orgânica e vital que lhe confere a capacidade de, para além de todos os enquadramentos técnicos superficiais, a todo o momento superar-se mediante o alcance de pontos mais culminantes de potência. As considerações de Nietzsche em torno do problema da (...) má consciência, assim como de sua expressão em forma de ódio e vingança é marca do ressentimento, estão ligadas aos obstáculos que se interpõem frente à ação. Pela ação, toda a carga instintiva é manifesta em forma de obra de arte pelo criador; ao contrário, se interiorizada, a carga se torna veneno degenerativo. Nietzsche atribui estes obstáculos à ação e à memória como um dos fatores preponderantes. Na Segunda Dissertação de Para a genealogia da moral, Nietzsche apresenta a má consciência como um fatalismo sem luta, o que repercute em resignação e doença. Pela má consciência às propensões naturais do agir é atribuído um olhar ruim, hostil à vida e difamador do mundo. Sua origem se liga a um movimento de interiorização dos instintos, o que resulta em luta contra si mesmo e degeneração fisiológica. A presente investigação considera as diversas técnicas que foram sendo desenvolvidas a fim de que não só as informações mais diversas não caíssem no esquecimento, mas a maneira como estas são lembradas no sentido de produzirem, ao invés de expansão da vida, encolhimento, resignação e degeneração. Estaria Nietzsche defendendo a dissolução da memória como um todo, ou redimensionando a maneira pela qual se tem vivido dela? (shrink)

O estudo reflete sobre o conjunto de categorias que coloca a alteridade como princípio articulador e compreensivo do saber das diferenças em Emannuel Lévinas. Uma ética da alteridade é um desafio para uma sociedade que uniformiza os processos de ensino e desvaloriza o ser em uma relação de supremacia do eu frente ao alter. A esfera educacional é propícia ao desenvolvimento de uma ética da alteridade, pois tem por princípio o diálogo e o respeito ao outro, enquanto compromisso de abertura (...) a uma comunidade de racionalidades plurais. Na ótica educativa, o ambiente escolar é um lugar de encontro com o outro para a construção de novas aprendizagens interativas, tendo a possibilidade de promover a ética da alteridade, num espaço de diálogo e escuta sensível. A formação educativa amplia a visão de mundo e humaniza as relações, cujo enfoque é pensar as inter-relações, as experiências, as singularidades, as imperfeições e inacabamentos, esclarecendo posições dogmáticas e compartilhando o respeito e o reconhecimento humano. Contribui ainda para uma formação integral do educando para deixar o outro ser outro, para uma cultura mais respeitosa e sem preconceitos, formando cidadãos que reconhecem e tornam compreensíveis seus atos. É um processo coletivo de conhecimento para aprimorar o saber reflexivo, pois a aprendizagem acontece através de inter-relações entre os educandos, cada um com suas próprias diferenças. Concluímos que por meio de uma ética da alteridade de Lévinas, somos convidados a uma atualização formativa de abertura à pluralidade humana, tornando-se um desafio para o educador resistir aos modismos e visões centralizadoras, evitando que os sujeitos sejam vistos de maneira reduzida, homogeneizada e inexpressiva. The aim of this paper is to support the concept of technoscience is not confused when its meaning is understood in certain ways. The use of this concept is found inside and outside the academic world. However, not all philosophers are satisfied it is applied in philosophy of science and technology. Mario Bunge argues that the concept is generating confusion regarding the classical distinction between pure science, applied and technology. According to the Argentine-Canadian philosopher, the only acceptable sense of the (...) term occurs when applied to the activity of individuals who are both scientists and technologists, as was the case of Galileo and Tesla. Countering this position, we think that the term can be used, at least not so confusing in the sense proposed by the philosopher Javier Echeverría. (shrink)

Building on an illustrative case of a systemic environmental threat and its multi‐stakeholder response, this paper draws attention to the changing political impacts of corporations in the digital age. Political Corporate Social Responsibility (PCSR) theory suggests an expanded sense of politics and corporations, including impacts that may range from voluntary initiatives to overcome governance gaps, to avoiding state regulation via corporate political activity. Considering digitalization as a stimulus, we explore potential responsibilities of corporations toward public goods in contexts with functioning (...) governments. We show that digitalization—in the form of transparency, surveillance, and data‐sharing—offers corporations’ scope for deliberative public participation. The starry sky beetle infestation endangering public and private goods is thereby used to illustrate the possibility of expanding the political role of corporations in the digital sphere. We offer a contribution by conceptualizing data‐deliberation as a Habermasian variation of PCSR, defined as the (a) voluntary disclosure of corporate data and its transparent, open sharing with the public sector (b) along with the cooperation with governmental institutions on data analytics methods for examining large‐scale datasets (c) thereby complying with existing national and international regulations on data protection, in particular with respect to privacy and personal data. O ensaio se ocupa em mostrar como se manifestaram os ideais educacionais em relação às brincadeiras na modernidade, identificando Fröebel como o principal referente teórico nesse âmbito. Veremos em Fröebel como as ideias do brincar são importantes para a sociedade e para as escolas modernas, e como podem funcionar nos modos se subjetivação infantil. Fröebel enfatiza a necessidade de organizar o cotidiano de forma estruturada, partindo do cotidiano, que envolve todas as atividades das crianças na instituição, o que revela uma (...) preocupação com o tempo. O espaço e o tempo também são modos de controle do brincar. Quanto mais o espaço é definido, mais podemos vigiá-los, observar como brincam, como se manifestam e reagem. Do mesmo modo isso se dá em relação ao tempo, quanto mais estrita a programação, mais controle se tem sobre os corpos. Por fim, realizamos uma tentativa de pensar o brincar como forma de resistência a formas disciplinadoras, mostrando que, onde há poder (modos de conduzir o brincar como algo que tem finalidade pedagogizante) há resistência (o brincar como ato de fruição, sem utilidade), apontando acerca da despedagogização do ato de brincar. This article aims to analyze the problems of defining and classifying explicitly the concept of religion. We agree with the criteria of extensional accuracy, neutrality, phenomenology and non-circularity established by Mark Owen Webb (2009) as suitable for a good philosophical definition of religion. However, all attempts to establish an explicit definition that satisfies these criteria were unsuccessful. We propose a definition of religion less demanding, sustained by Morris Weitz (1956) for literature and applied mutatis mutandis to the concept of religion. (...) By many accounts, CRISPR gene-editing technology is revolutionizing biotechnology. It has been hailed as a scientific game changer and is being adopted at a break-neck pace. This hasty adoption has left little time for ethical reflection, and so this paper aims to begin filling that gap by exploring whether CRISPR is as much an ethical game changer as it is a biological one. By focusing on the application of CRISPR to non-human animals, I argue that CRISPR has and will continue (...) to result in significant shifts in the ethical debate landscape. For instance, the fact that many CRISPR edits are non-transgenic has important implications for the ethical debate, particularly the popular objection to genetic engineering that it objectionably involves “crossing species boundaries,” as well as the regulatory debate in the United States, where currently only transgenic organisms are officially genetically modified organisms. I also explore various impacts CRISPR may have on animal welfare, suggesting that although the improved precision of CRISPR suggests fewer unintended welfare problems in comparison to past techniques, the greater versatility means that more animals than ever will be engineered. Finally, I end my discussion of animal welfare issues by exploring the possibility of using CRISPR to directly improve animal welfare, for instance through introducing disease resistance. (shrink)

A aproximação que apresentamos entre Hegel e Nietzsche não é uma reconciliação entre ambos, mas uma investigação da crítica que ambos fazem com relação a moral cristã, ou seja, do destino que o Cristianismo assumiu a partir da "tradição cristã", resultando no afastamento de seu espírito. Esse afastamento se dá a partir da cristalização de suas doutrinas em dogmas, implicando num estranhamento de Deus. Nietzsche lê este estranhamento através da moral, portanto uma falsificação do verdadeiro espírito cristão pela cristandade.

A atualidade da pesquisa Nietzsche se mostra como um fator importante para se pensar sobre o futuro de instituições sociais assentadas sobre regras dogmáticas. Para além dos grandes sistemas mostra-se o caos, implantado pelo niilismo, e frente ao qual se desenha o porvir de uma nova aurora. No entanto, cabe a pergunta pelo alcance desta aurora do porvir; em que medida esta é capaz de trazer otimismo diante do turbilhão niilista. Estas páginas pretendem trazer algumas pistas para se refletir sobre (...) este paradoxo do pessimismo do caos niilista e do otimismo do porvir. Para tanto se procede a uma leitura transversal de Nietzsche, do estado atual, passando pela sua crítica para culminar em seu futuro. (shrink)

Para muitos, Nietzsche não é considerado um filósofo, mas um poeta. Entre os diversos fatores que contribuem para negar o status philosophicus ao filósofo alemão reside, por um lado, no aspecto de seu conteúdo e, por outro, no seu aspecto formal. Quanto ao conteúdo é difícil perceber algum aspecto propositivo em seu pensamento, uma tese construtiva, ao contrário, trata-se de um pensamento desconstrutivo, demolidor, um filosofar a marteladas. Quanto a forma, o estilo da escrita nietzschiana se caracteriza pelo aforismo ao (...) invés do discurso contínuo, cada aforismo abriga um conjunto de metáforas que se destacam como enigmas a serem decifrados. Nossa proposta, neste artigo, é mostrar que apesar do conteúdo e da forma, mediante os quais, o pensamento de Nietzsche se apresenta, há uma filosofia que se dá pela superação de uma concepção racional e moral para estabelecer a genealogia de um pensamento. Por traz das críticas de Nietzsche à moral, ele tem no Cristianismo do movimento messiânico de Jesus um antídoto contra o niilismo. Promotor de um ethos cristão, o Cristianismo, que, em fidelidade ao seu espírito crístico, faz consistir seus ensinamentos não apenas numa lei ou dogma doutrinal, mas principalmente numa prática de vida ao assumir o seu destino com amor. Acolhe o destino de maneira não resignada ou conformista, mas com disposição ativa. O espírito cristão de Jesus consiste na sua (...) prática, da qual decorre a desconstrução do sujeito moral. É uma prática que, ao invés de se resignar passivamente ao destino como foi a tradição cristã, o assume até as suas últimas consequências em que a vida, atinge os seus pontos mais culminantes. Recent research shows that a faulty or sub‐optimally operating metabolic network can often be rescued by the targeted removal of enzyme‐coding genes – the exact opposite of what traditional gene therapy would suggest. Predictions go as far as to assert that certain gene knockouts can restore the growth of otherwise nonviable gene‐deficient cells. Many questions follow from this discovery: What are the underlying mechanisms? How generalizable is this effect? What are the potential applications? Here, I approach these questions from the (...) perspective of compensatory perturbations on networks. Relations are drawn between such synthetic rescues and naturally occurring cascades of reaction inactivation, as well as their analogs in physical and other biological networks. I specially discuss how rescue interactions can lead to the rational design of antagonistic drug combinations that select against resistance and how they can illuminate medical research on cancer, antibiotics, and metabolic diseases. O objetivo de nosso artigo é compreender as noções de fé perceptiva , filosofia e ciência em Le visible et l’invisible (1964). Essas noções nos devem levar a um dos pontos fundamentais do pensamento merleau-pontyano, em que a interrogaçáo ontológica parte essencialmente da fé perceptiva para chegar a uma ontologia da carne.

Public reason liberals argue that coercive social arrangements must be publicly justified in order to be legitimate. According to one model of public reason liberalism, known as convergence liberalism, this means that every moderately idealized member of the public must have sufficient reason, of her own, to accept the arrangement. A corollary of this Principle of Public Justification is that a coercive social arrangement fails to be legitimate so long as even one member of the public fails to have sufficient (...) reason to endorse the arrangement. This high bar for justification has led many critics, most notably David Enoch, to argue that convergence models are incapable of vindicating liberalism. They argue that in a sufficiently diverse society, there will always be someone for whom an arrangement is not justified, and therefore convergence liberalism leads to anarchy – the view that no law or coercive social arrangement is legitimate. Other critics accept that convergence liberalism could vindicate core liberal institutions but nothing more, and thus argue that the view makes libertarians effective “dictators”. In either case, critics hold that this objection is sufficient to reject convergence liberalism, either in favor of alternative public reason views or as a means of rejecting all public reason views. In this paper I argue that convergence liberalism can overcome this anarchy objection. I show that the objection largely rests on misinterpretations of convergence liberalism, and thus clarify aspects of the theory. However, I also show that internal debate over the scope of public justification – what stands in need of justification – must be resolved in favor of a wide scope, encompassing both State-based and non-State-based coercion, in order to overcome the anarchy objection. Therefore, my response to the anarchy objection has implications for how convergence liberalism should be developed going forward. (shrink)

Are there are normative reasons to have – or refrain from having – certain emotions? The dominant view is that there are. I disagree. In this paper, I argue for Strong Eliminativism – the view that there are no reasons for emotions. My argument for this claim has two premises. The first premise is that there is a deliberative constraint on reasons: a reason for an agent to have an attitude must be able to feature in that agent’s deliberation to (...) that attitude. My argument for this premise is that in order to have reasons for an attitude, we need to be able to exhibit some relevant form of control over this attitude, and this relevant form of control is deliberative control. The second premise is that no one can deliberate to any emotion. My argument for this premise turns on the claim that there is no deliberative question that is settled by forming (or giving up) an emotion. I contend that this is so due to the well-known phenomenon of recalcitrant emotions: for any deliberative question that can be settled, there is no guarantee that the relevant emotional state will follow (or be revised). Anne-Marie Schultz explores Plato’s presentation of Socrates as a philosopher who tells narratives about himself in the Theaetetus, Symposium, Apology, and Phaedo. She argues that scholars should regard Socrates as a public philosopher, while examining Socratic self-disclosive practices in the works of bell hooks, Kathy Khang, and Ta-Neishi Coates.

As relações entre ciência e religião são complexas. Um dos problemas que se apresentam dizem respeito a por que não constam, na ciência e na história moderna, referências e explicações que apelem a entidades como Deus, anjos e demônios. Duas respostas – entre outras – podem ser dadas ao problema. A primeira é que, dada a natureza da ciência, o sobrenatural está excluído a priori de seu meio. A segunda é que a ciência não contém explicações sobrenaturais, a posteriori, porque (...) tais explicações não se mostraram adequadas durante o desenvolvimento da ciência moderna. Contudo, se não há nenhum impedimento a priori para as explicações sobrenaturais na ciência, sustentaremos, seguindo os argumentos de Dawes e Schick, que a melhor resposta ao problema parece ser a solução a posteriori. Porém, discordamos que sustentar tal posição acarrete o cientismo. Contra o cientismo seguimos os argumentos de Feser. (shrink)

The so-called Menschenpark-debate on genetic engineering—originating in 1999—turned out to be one of the most controversial and contentious debates in German philosophy. It is also regarded as the first manifestation of the struggle between Sloterdijk and Habermas. While Sloterdijk’s ideas had a significant impact on Habermas’s theory, Sloterdijk’s philosophy has been consistently ignored and dismissed until today due to two reasons. First, he was accused of advocating for fascist ideology. Second, philosophers from the same academic circles claimed that his method (...) does not meet academic standards. The debate therefore signifies a larger problem that concerns the methodological difference between analytic-Continental philosophies that work on a formal level and Continental philosophies that work with a tropological account experimenting with different non-formal philosophical expressions. I will carve out this distinction with respect to the Menschenpark-debate to argue that Sloterdijk is an integral part of our philosophical historical moment. (shrink)

In his book God and Necessity and in four subsequent papers, Brian Leftow argues against metaphysical theories which hold that “God’s nature makes necessary truths true or gives rise to their truthmakers,” asserting that all such “deity theories commit us to the claim that God’s existence depends on there being truthmakers for particular necessary truths about creatures.” Leftow supports this by arguing that all deity theories entail that if it is untrue that water = H2O, then God does not exist. Resumo: O pensamento de Nietzsche é recepcionado na Escandinávia, através do historiador dinamarquês Georg Brandes. O historiador é atraído pelo aspecto aristocrático, o qual se depreende da leitura que Nietzsche realiza sobre a cultura. A radicalidade, a originalidade e a minuciosidade psicológica, que se reconhece no espírito filosófico do pensador alemão, permeiam a leitura que Brandes faz do autor de Zaratustra. O próprio Nietzsche dá testemunho do quanto seu nome, graças a Brandes, passa a ser conhecido na Dinamarca, em suas (...) diversas cartas e outros escritos, atestando, inclusive, um correto entendimento de seu pensamento. Esta proposta tem o intuito de averiguar o papel que a memória, em seu sentido aristocrático, tem a contribuir na recepção nietzschiana, efetuada por Brandes. Em que medida a mnemotécnica pode apontar caminhos para uma cultura aristocrática, no contexto da Dinamarca de Brandes?: Nietzsche’s thought is received in Scandinavia through the Danish historian Georg Brandes. The historian is attracted by the aristocratic aspect that emerges from Nietzsche’s reading of culture. Radicality, originality and psychological detail, which can be seen in the philosophical spirit of the German thinker, permeate Brandes’ reading of the author of Zarathustra. Nietzsche himself testifies to how much his name, thanks to Brandes, comes to be known in Denmark in several of his letters and other writings, even attesting to a correct understanding of his thinking. Our proposal is intended to ascertain the role that memory, in its aristocratic sense, has to contribute to Brandes’ Nietzschean reception. To what extent can mnemotechnics point the way to an aristocratic culture for the Denmark’s context of Brandes? (shrink)

Critical theory has recently charted the rise of an unprecedented wave of social acceleration transforming Western capitalism. Within that body of work, a tendency has emerged to frame this new temporality as a stable structure lacking in the possibility for visions of alternatives, let alone for substantive revolt or challenge. This essay argues that recent struggles like Occupy and 15-M experimented with an alternative, utopian temporality that challenged and disrupted acceleration, revealing the latter to be prone to generating and expanding (...) the conditions of temporal struggle. Acceleration is therefore unstable, and cannot be adequately understood apart from its increasing cultivation of visions of and experiments in other temporalities. (shrink)

“The actual world” is a familiar term in possible-worlds discourse. A desirable account of the nature and structure of the actual world that coheres with the doctrine of creation ex nihilo will include a theory of truth-making, account for the dynamics of the universe in relation to the doctrine of creation, say how so-called abstract objects are related to God, and preclude the Russell Paradox. By emending Alvin Plantinga’s theistic modal realism, this paper recovers a view of the actual world (...) as God’s plan and briefly states how the metaphysical theory that results meets these desiderata. The thesis of this article is that engagement and suffering are essential aspects of responsible caregiving. The sense of medical responsibility engendered by engaged caregiving is referred to herein as clinical phronesis, i.e. practical wisdom in health care, or, simply, practical health care wisdom. The idea of clinical phronesis calls to mind a relational or communicative sense of medical responsibility which can best be understood as a kind of virtue ethics, yet one that is informed by the exigencies of moral (...) discourse and dialogue, as well as by the technical rigors of formal reasoning. The ideal of clinical phronesis is not (necessarily) contrary to the more common understandings of medical responsibility as either beneficence or patient autonomy — except, of course, when these notions are taken in their disengaged form (reflecting the malaise of modern medicine). Clinical phronesis, which gives rise to a deeper, broader, and richer, yet also to a more complex, sense than these other notions connote, holds the promise both of expanding, correcting, and perhaps completing what it currently means to be a fully responsible health care provider. In engaged caregiving, providers appropriately suffer with the patient, that is, they suffer the exigencies of the patient's affliction (though not his or her actual loss) by consenting to its inescapability. In disengaged caregiving — that ruse Katz has described as the silent world of doctor and patient — provides may deny or refuse any given connection with the patient, especially the inevitability of the patient's affliction and suffering (and, by parody of reasoning, the inevitability of their own. When, however, responsibility is construed qualitatively as an evaluative feature of medical rationality, rather than quantitatively as a form of calculative reasoning only, responsibility can be viewed more broadly as not only a matter of science and will, but of language and communication as well — in particular, as the task of responsibly narrating and interpreting the patient's story of illness. In summary, the question is not whether phronesis can save the life of medical ethics — only responsible humans can do that! Instead, the question should be whether phronesis, as an ethical requirement of health care delivery, can prevent the death of medical ethics. (shrink)

O estudo, de abordagem hermenêutica, realiza um debate acerca das fake news e suas ressonâncias na vida social, de modo particular, durante o período de pandemia ocasionada pelo COVID-19. Realizamos uma reflexão sobre como o contato com as fake news pode ocasionar interferências nos processos educacionais e nos diversos segmentos da sociedade. We approach in the essay the temporality of childhood, taking as horizon the language and experience. Walter Benjamin and Giorgio Agamben are the main thinkers who help us to address the fragile experience in contemporaneity, in the sense that the current ways of life are full of everyday practices that are not transformed into experience. To restore experience it is necessary to understand childhood as a condition of existence that accompanies all life; it is a subject who is exposed to (...) historicity and who makes history, discontinuous history and singular event. With this in mind, through Manuel de Barros' poetic power we rekindle the relationship between childhood temporalities, language and experience, because ins this relation present itself the intensity of a lived that is devoid of a successive and chronological time. The creative power of this language has in the becoming-child the artisan for the creation of another perspective in the search for the inaugural source of words: to advance to the beginning and reach the childing of words. From these constructed approaches, we understand that together, Walter Benjamin, Giorgio Agamben and Manuel de Barros invite us to resume our childhood, in the search for the first meaning of words, which we only find with the presence of childhood. Here, it is not about establishing an absolute truth about childhoods and their times, but of finding ways to think about how to constitute other relationships with and in time. (shrink)

While it is generally agreed that companies need to manage their relationships with their stakeholders, the way in which they choose to do so varies considerably. In this paper, it is argued that when companies want to communicate with stakeholders about their CSR initiatives, they need to involve those stakeholders in a two-way communication process, defined as an ongoing iterative sense-giving and sense-making process. The paper also argues that companies need to communicate through carefully crafted and increasingly sophisticated processes. Three (...) CSR communication strategies are developed. Based on empirical illustrations and prior research, the authors argue that managers need to move from ‘informing’ and ‘responding’ to ‘involving’ stakeholders in CSR communication itself. They conclude that managers need to expand the role of stakeholders in corporate CSR communication processes if they want to improve their efforts to build legitimacy, a positive reputation and lasting stakeholder relationships. A gênese histórica da paróquia e seu desenvolvimento estrutural em relação à história da Igreja é a problemática central à qual este texto está subordinado. Por esta razão, o texto parte da etimologia do termo paróquia à compreensão de suas origens e matrizes dentro da concepção do cristianismo nascente e em suas raízes bíblicas, sem a pretensão de apresentar críticas e reformulações da estrutura paroquial. O respectivo trabalho toma como alicerce os decorrentes períodos e fatos históricos da Igreja para caracterizar (...) e contextualizar o desenvolvimento da paróquia que, desde os primórdios, está subordinada a estruturas de autoridades eclesiais. O seguinte texto vale-se de documentos importantes que contextualizam a visão, função e organização da paróquia como parte fundamentalmente integrante do corpo eclesial, bem como conceituam juridicamente esta comunidade de fé, célula da Igreja Particular. Após um apanhado geral da genealogia eclesiástica, com o desenvolvimento paroquial no seu interior, o presente trabalho atem-se a contextualizar a visão que a paróquia assumiu dentro da eclesiologia do XXI Concílio Ecumênico da Igreja Católica, o Concílio Vaticano II e do Código do Direito Canônico de 1983 em comparação com o Código Pio-beneditino. Com isso, o presente texto intui proporcionar fundamentos a futuros estudos e questionar a efemeridade. (shrink)

The purpose of the following text is to analyze the development of the understanding of God in the theological-biblical imaginery, as well as the formulations that allow us to understand the development of Transcendent identity in history and in the construction of the talk and about God. Starting from a brief synopsis of the biblical Old Testament design of elements present in the theological imagination of the identity of the God of Israel, from liberating perception present in the image of (...) God Revelation from Jesus Christ phenomenon, passing briefly to the understanding of God as Trinity and culminating with the perception of identity of God within the current context of liberation, it points out the development of the identity of a God who – far from remain static, immobile, inert – assumes an itinerant identity alongside your people. Thus, the present paper analyses aspects of revelation and maps an identity of God from these elements, pointing to the construction of the identity design of a God who, by walking along the humanity, is not free to be assimilated and perceived in different forms in the course of this Revelation route. The correspondence between Richard von Mises and George Pólya of 1919/20 contains reflections on two well-known articles by von Mises on the foundations of probability in the Mathematische Zeitschrift of 1919, and one paper from the Physikalische Zeitschrift of 1918. The topics touched on in the correspondence are: the proof of the central limit theorem of probability theory, von Mises' notion of randomness, and a statistical criterion for integer-valuedness of physical data. The investigation will hint at both the fruitfulness and (...) the limits of several of von Mises' notions such as ``collective'', ``distribution'' and ``complex adjuncts'' (characteristic functions) for further developments in probability theory and in ``directional statistics''. By pointing to the selectiveness of Pólya's criticism, the historical analysis shows the differing expectations of the two men with respect to the further development of the theory of probability and its applications. The paper thus gives a glimpse of the provisional state of the theory around 1920, before others such as P. Lévy (1886–1971) and A. N. Kolmogorov (1903–1987) stepped in and created a new paradigm for probability theory. (shrink)

Zygotic gene activation (ZGA) is the critical event that governs the transition from maternal to embryonic control of development. In the mouse, ZGA occurs during the 2‐cell stage and appears to be regulated by the time following fertilization, i.e. a zygotic clock, rather than by progression through the first cell cycle. The onset of ZGA must depend on maternally inherited proteins, and post‐translational modification of these maternally derived proteins is likely to play a role in ZGA. Consistent with this prediction (...) is that protein phosphorylation catalyzed by the cAMP‐dependent protein kinase is involved in ZGA and that protein synthesis is not required for ZGA. Recent results suggest that ZGA may occur earlier than previously thought, i.e. not during the 2‐cell stage, but rather in G2 of the 1‐cell embryo. Thus ZGA may comprise a period of minor gene activation in the 1‐cell embryo that is followed by a period of major gene activation in the 2‐cell embryo. Following ZGA, the expression of constitutively activated genes may require an enhancer. (shrink)

ABSTRACT Most of the ethical decision making literature that guides mental health practice comes from the Western hemisphere. The well-meaning application of Western values in supervision can result in the intrusion of ethical standards that may not match the context and lacks sensitivity. In this qualitative study, researchers explored the supervisory experiences of 25 mental health professionals of 14 different nationalities, navigating complex ethical challenges in supervision practice in 17 countries. Using thematic analysis, several well-supported themes emerged. Recommendations for practice (...) include the importance of supervisors taking primary responsibility for initiating cultural discussions and fostering a collaborative approach to navigating complex cultural dilemmas.
